this makes me laugh whether you're a theist or an atheist...you obviously have an understanding of biology; if nothing else common sense.

This is a very interesting question, and has a long history. As a summary, there are three competing theories:
1. Pre-Umbilicism. Based on the Bible, which says that God created man in His image, the act of creation is actually the event of birth, that's why Adam and Eve has navels. This theory shares much in common with the Omphalos argumentation which says that God created the world 6000 years ago, but created it so that it looks 15 billion years old, for some reason unknown to mankind
2. Mid-Umbilicism. By this theory Adam's navel was created when God took out his rib to create Eve. In this case Adam was not born with a belly button, but later he got one, while Eve did not have at all.
3. Post-Umbilicism. According to the supporters of this theory Adam and Eve got belly button when they were driven out of Paradise . Others say that this happened when Cain committed his crime and then God set a mark upon him.
The final conclusion is that our forefathers had apparently too much free time and were very creative with how to spend it.

Yes. Think of it this way, Adam and Eves children had belly buttons, so therefore they probably did to. Since god had to make them in a way that would genetically pass down through there children. If they didn't have belly buttons then babies probably would grow inside the womb differently and in turn be born with no belly button. (wouldn't that be strange lol).
PS - I think this was what dividedbymyself was trying to explain in his links.

No, they were like those kids in that teeny bopper show on the Family Channel. Kyle XY, that's the show. Kyle doesn't have a belly button and neither does his psychotic female counterpart. They were "grown" in large tubes, no biological host.
