cleanse your system completely (your colon) without getting a colonoscopy? I'd like to do it in a healthy way and get rid of any impurities. Your help is appreciated. No rude comments or sarcasm please.

I think you're confused as to what a colonoscopy is.

A colonoscopy is a camera that is inserted up the colon so the doctor can check for any polyps. Any growths are removed and sent for biopsy. I believe the procedure is done starting at age 50, perhaps earlier for those at higher risk.

Colonoscopy's are healthy and recommended for everyone of a certain age.

I believe you are talking about colon cleansings.

I think they are a load of crap, no pun intended. Your body is self cleansing. Eat lots of good food and fiber, and that should be enough. Many doctors do not recommend a colon cleansing.

Yes they have other things, but getting colonoscopy is a good thing if there is a history of cancer for sure in your family, but everyone should get check around the age of 40 not just for the cleansing but to make sure you don't have any polyps that will turn into cancer. My father in-law had colon cancer and to have surgery, chemo and radiation it was a long 11 months. You might check with your doctor on getting cleansed on what would be the best for you. Colonoscopy is not the best thing as far as the drink you have to drink or thinking about the procedure, but it may save your life by doing it and getting checked out.

The cleaning out of the colon is so the camera can see what is going on. When they do a colonoscopy, they can remove polyps while they are in there. It doesn't hurt. You could go to a health food store to get stuff to clean out your colon, but this is not a colonoscopy. Colonoscopy looks for cancer.

Getting cleaned out is a good idea but that won't replace the colonoscopy. They look for polyps, Masses and anything unusual. You should get one if you are over 40. I need one too. But the idea of sticking things up my butt has put me off getting one.

A colonoscopy checks for colon cancer. Although its not exactly "preventative" over the age of 40 you should get them yearly. Usually, your dr. will tell you when you should have one.
