why would he make one such that he needed a sacrafice of the human for of himself to forgive all sins? it's an empty gesture. he could just as easily say, "do you accept me as you lord and personal savior?" and skip the whole killing thing.

anthony, it's good that you don't question things... i guess the idea of bloodshed is a good thing as long as it's for god. so as long as a person believes in their mind that god has ordained whatever actions they commit they cannot be held accountable because they believe in their hearts god wants it that way, and who are they to question? right?

and i wouldn't say we share a common backbone. but i do believe a logical mind leads to the same questions about an all-powerful, all-loving god? it's amazing, when i was a hardcore believer in jesus and in god i never had any questions, or if i did, i would suppress them. then when i decided to question i realized i was not the only person who had the questions i had.

justice is holding each person accountable for their actions. not holding someone else accountable. to suggest that someone who is not responsible for anything i have done take responsibility is the opposite of justice.

No, blood MUST be spilled.
We're talking about a LOVING god -not a LOGICAL god.

Just ! Do you believe the Bible? You must do you quote a lot. Have you ever ask Jesus to for give you your sin? God says or the Holy Spirit says to put on the mind of Christ not the mind of man. Which you have so far shown us on Yahoo. Jimmy.

I suggest that you read these three books of the New Testament:
1) The Gospel of John (speaks directly to the diety of Jesus and why He came)
2) Acts - The formation of the early church and what that means
3) Romans - why Jesus had to come to die for us.
Do you know where you'll spend eternity?
Read Romans.
In Christ,

The God that their is modelled upon was an angry, jealous God that required blood sacrifice to apease him.
Although God is allegedly unchanging, he seems to have changed his disposition.... No longer Angry or Jealous - but still bloodthristy.

isnt it a little old for you to conjure up a witty question that makes everyone think, i swear atheists must share a common backbone or something. the fact that Jesus DIED for our sins means he took and takes our sins as man an sacraficies himself in death, so we wouldnt suffer. i dont question God and how he works, i just go with the flow.

Blood has to be shed in order for sins to be forgiven from the OT to the new. God's ways are uncomprehendable to us.
Jesus had to die so that we could be reconciled back to God.

He could have chosen anything. Anyone he sees Orion gets into Heaven, anyone who loves their mom more than their dad, etc...
The claim that sacrificing himself to himself makes sense is deluded...assuming he makes the rules.

That entire sacrifice thing is an allegory.
Thinking this is or was literal is kinda sick.

If you have children and you tell them don't do this or I will punish you, if they do it, do you just say, oh that's ok, don't worry about it? God is Just, and as such, he must deal justly.
