A little of both, I admit.
Often I don't even look at avatars when reading answers, and give thumbs up pretty generously.
But there is the occasional person who gets a fair share of thumbs down from me, usually a Fundie who posts 3 page long answers. I don't read them , and thumbs down to avoid having to scroll past it again.

If I ask a question I give a thumbs up for a answer, unless they put a totally disregarded kind of answer then its thumbs down. I figure if a person takes the time and gives an answer its worth giving a thumbs up, has nothing to do with who gave an answer. I have given a honorary middle finger to a couple people though, for wasting my time for disrespecting.

Some people will give a thumbs down because of the PERSON, some because of the answer.
I do not thumbs down because of persons, I do because of answers. And sometimes, an answer that would appear to be the same is not because of either the way it is worded or tone of answer. Those have a big influence sometimes in how an answer is looked at.

It just depends on who is looking at the answers at any given time.
I only give thumbs down if I don't agree with the answer. It has nothing to do with the person. You never know, I could totally agree with that person on the next question.
Edit: I'll give you a thumbs up Moon :)

I very rarely give thumbs down. I almost always give thumbs up to all answers, at my questions, and at the questions I answer. That's why I always end up with less, I give thumbs up to all others, but few do the same for me. :)

I give a thumb down when I think it is a bad answer, regardless who is the answerer.
Sometimes I give a thumb down to answers of people I like, or at least those I usually liked their answers. But it is all about the content of the answer, to me.
Peace.

Salam
Because they either where way off the mark in the question and some questions are very long so it takes patience to read it all esspecially off a computer screen. Some answers also. What is nice about Answers is most of the time you get the honest answers from people and so its kind of a reflection of themselves right?

I don't know anyone, so my thumbs down is solely based on the answer. You must be talking to someone else!

I only give a thumbs down if its rude or mean, it doesn't matter who's answer it is. Do the thumbs up/down really matter?
