Based on the information you provided, you are overweight but you are not obese. To make this determination, I calculated your Body Mass Index (BMI) based on your height of 6' and weight of 210 pounds. Your BMI is 28.5. A BMI between 25.0 - 29.9 is considered overweight. A BMI 30 - 40 is obese and a BMI over 40 is morbid obesity.
BMI is a general indicator of body fatness. The higher the BMI, the greater the health risk of developing diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. The more of your excess weight you carry in your abdomen the greater risk you have of developing diabetes, heart disease, high blood fats, hypertension and some cancers.
Although the “charts” show a person at your height and weight to be overweight, I’m sure you look fine. What you want to consider is your overall health now and in the future. If you continue to gain weight (even very slowly) over the years, you increase your risk of health problems.
Personally, I don’t think any “diet” is a good idea because it something a person does for a period of time (i.e. South Beach Diet). After the person loses the weight, they typically resume their old eating habits but “diets” are hard and unfulfilling. I suggest eating 2000 per day being sure to include fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads and low-fat meats and dairy products. Our bodies (especially our brains) need carbohydrates for energy and I believe low-carb diets are unhealthy.
If you are eating a lot of unhealthy foods (i.e. fried foods, fast food hamburgers) don’t try to completely change your diet at one time. If you haven’t been eating any fruit, start eating a serving a day of whatever fruit you like. If you are on the go, get McDonald’s Fruit and Walnut Snack. If you have been eating white bread, switch to whole grain bread. The whole grain breads that are now being sold at the grocery actually taste good. I like Aunt Millie’s Five Grain Bread.
If you don’t exercise at all right now, you will see some weight loss simply by doing some cardio-exercise three times a week – you might get an exercise bike at home and watch TV while you do 20 minutes on the bike.

The word diet is so unappealing. Once I stopped the "dieting", and just started eating healthy, all my eating disorders disappeared. If you're feeling fat, that's not a good feeling, so you may need to lose a few pounds. Remember though, just because you may treat yourself to a treat now and again isn't the end of the world. The healthy food will still be there the next meal. Make the healthier food available so that when you're ready to buck up a bit, it's there for you.

Well, the studies show that almost any abdominal fat is dangerous.
Your ideal weight at 6 feet is approximately 165-200.
But the key is to reduce body fat - especially on the waist.
If you lift weights, you may have NO body fat and yet weigh > 200 pounds.
Cut the simple carbs (pop, juice, alcohol, white breads, pastas, processed snack foods, etc).
Drink a glass of skim milk twice a day (proven in multiple studies to create a 10% weight loss in 6 months - AND this particularly helps us avoid abdominal fat).
Exercise daily including weight lifting 3 times a week.
Small frequent meals.
Get sleep - lack of sleep is directly proportional to obesity.
MUST eat breakfast - skip this meal and studies show a 400% increase in obesity (weird, but true).

According to your body mass index (BMI), you are overweight for your height. However, this is just the average and doesn't work for all people--also, I calculated an adult's BMI, since I was unsure of your age.
If you're very concerned about your weight, try talking to a doctor or a nutritionist. They will put you on the right track by telling you what is a healthy weight for you and recommending a good diet.

80% of what you do to control your weight is diet. I had the same problem. Cut bread out of your diet, try to eat more carbs during the early part of the day and less in the evening. Also remember that 'fats' mortal enemy is fibre so when you go to bed try and eat say cottage cheese on ryvita, this will stop you feeling hungry through the night. Also try to eat soups and add things to them like chicken or turkey

There are sites on the web that ask for your height and weight and do a Body Mass Index check (BMI). Sight unseen I would say at least obese (which is the next step above normal after overweight.) Unless you want to join Luciano next you should check that BMI number(which is just a rough guess to tell you what is going on) and get serious about getting into shape.

The other day, I had to search this answer for health reasons.
I stumbled upon this website. Maybe it could help you?
http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/
"For adults, overweight and obesity ranges are determined by using weight and height to calculate a number called the “body mass index” (BMI). BMI is used because, for most people, it correlates with their amount of body fat."
An adult who has a BMI between 25 and 29.9
is considered overweight.
An adult who has a BMI of 30 or higher
is considered obese.
I hope this helps.

considering that Michael Jordan is considered overweight by the same standards the military uses, and that Arnold (when he was Mr Universe) is considered obese... i'd say the system of measuerments is what's lacking.
I'm 6'6" and muscular. However, i had to report to the "fat center" in the Air Force every f'ing month because by my measurements i was "morbidly obese" despite no gut. God figure.
