I think it depends on how much a guy cared about a girl. Even if he ultimately loved her, I don't think that a guy is likely to show his emotions because they are taught to be strong. My point is this, they both suffer the same. And yes, I have seen a guy cry. I have made a guy cry and I regret it a lot. I think that seeing men cry is worse than seeing a woman. Women cry so often that seeing a man cry is like seeing a groundhog on groundhog's day.

Some guys do "mope" around and are depressed, I have seen this in some of my guy friends. It's becoming more common for males as well as females. We just automatically expect women to be saddened by this and overlook the men and how they are feeling. I would say it is a 60-40 split. It also depends on why the break-up happened.

I have seen both! It just depends on what the guy is like. I have only seen a few guys after a break up not give a crap. Most of them are pretty upset and cry. I think we just handle breakups with alittle more public attention than guys do.

Totally wrong. Guys just don't do it in public.
If a girl gets dumb she will cry about it in church, the movies the park, on the bus even on a date with a new guy trying to get over the old guy.
If a guy gets dumb he will cry only when he is totally alone. But it is much harder to hide the pain than to just let it out.

Well it's not entirly true. Some guys do have it easy because they don't tend to care as much but some guys do because they are for reals and they actually cared in the relationship.... but i do think that girls stress more overall.

Women probably do stress more than men, in general...but I've known men who cried, stopped eating, played the same sad song over and over, and did any and all of the stereotypical things a depressed 'dumped' girl might do.
It's really an individual thing, but seeing as women are (generally) more emotional creatures than men, they do tend to show their pain more than a lot of guys do.

Angie, My dear I am 47 and yes I have cried over a lost love and a divorce ! Most guys just hold it until they are alone. But we are all human and have hearts. Some people never cry and I am sorry for them ! Those of us who have faith in Jesus are too strive to be like him and he wept plenty !

I think if their parents raised them around manipulation than it does not matter if boy/girl they will handle it differently'
my father was lenient and easy going
but mom was controlling
I took both attributes and it affects me in different scenarios
breaking up while under her influence was disastrous
but while modeling after father it was simple

men dont cry too much they just try not to let go. It is a ego thing. they cant cry because they are men and they cant let anything go because it shows weakness. in our eyes
