Neither God, nor the Bible, says that 'sex change' is forbidden; in fact, there are many scriptural passages that can be seen to justify it for those who need it. There's a link below to a webpage that discusses some of them.
All those people who argue that 'we should stay as God made us' presumably also believe that a child born with a heart defect should be left to die, or a child born with a harelip or a clubfoot should live his or her entire life disfigured and disabled. I can only hope that those people never have, or are responsible for, a child who isn't born 'perfect'.
'Sex change' is a set of medical and social procedures to treat a congenital neurological condition (transsexualism, or Benjamin's syndrome, see links below). Transsexualism is NOTa fetish, a whim, a mental illness, a sin, or a perversion; transsexual people are BORN transsexual.

As the bible was written hundreds of years before the technology and knowledge were available, the bible could NOT say whether one could or could not have a sex change.
Personally, I think that if there is a god, he really doesn't care about the personal foibles of us miniscule humans. We are the ones that have created all the do/do nots and or else's.
Where in the bible does it say to talk on the phone? Or fly in a plane? Or drive in a car? Or read the bible using a computer?
The bible is not a living thing that evolves and takes into account our modern technology. It is a book commissioned by a dictator in order to bring more power and control to his people and the church. Wow, it worked too!

Many people are born with gender dismorphia or are born with both male and female sex organs.
They deserve a chance to be happy, fulfilled and healthy emotionally, mentally and physically and if gender reassignment surgery is the only way to do this, then I think they should have it.
Of course, I believe our Creator wants us to be happy and fulfilled and that ultimately the soul is neither male nor female. So I don't have a problem with this.
Bible believers or Christians may have a different take on things.

The Bible says in the book of Jeremiah chapter 1 verses 4 thru 7 that before he was born he new him. Now that goes for all of us. However you were born, that how you should stay. Living in this world is not about how good we look or how much money we make, its about serving our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He came to earth and died for our sins. The Bible says in the book of Romans that none is righteous, no not one. In the book of Genesis, the first book of the bible it says he made male and female, Now if for some reason you don't like who you are start praying about it to God, he will help you, go see a Christian Pastor, they are trained to help you, I will be glad to talk to you so more, please send me an email before doing something like this, Jesus loves you just they way you are. Don't you believe he has control over what you are when you are born, he created us, the moon, the stars, the sun the whole universe. I think he knew what he was doing when he created you. Good luck to YOU and may GOD BLESS

No. It never once says that in the Bible. That's why everyone who hate transgendered and transexual people in the name of God are hypocrites and just plain rude.

Changing your body does not help anyone feel Godly. Changing ones mind does. God can only do that!

Well, God made you perfect, so why change it?
That's why so many Christians die of appendicitis, keep their wisdom teeth, and never cut their hair.
You should never change who God made you. Pardon me for not giving a longer answer, as my fingernails are 6 feet long.
No, the Bible does not speak out against transgendered people. That's understandable, since the concept of a sex change was so unfathomable back then. There was no mention of flossing your teeth either.
But, many people will extrapolate a hatred for the transgendered. Since they use the Bible to justify their hatred of homosexuals, witches, and heathens, it's not a large jump to hate the transgendered.

It's in Leviticus, that part about not combining patterns and materials in the same outfit. It's an abomination, you know. Sure, it sounds like it's talking about those garish modern fashions but we know what it really means, don't we, boys? Yeah!

God made us who we are for a purpose. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. We are told in Scripture to honor God with our bodies as well as our spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:20-21
19"Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own,
20"You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body."
In other words, we do not belong to ourselves, but to God.
peacetimewarrior: Good answer. It really *is* a heart and mind problem, not a problem with your body.
