Stars are for questions. It's to the left of the control bar just below the question. Answers get thumbs up or down; a thumb up is sort of like a star, and worth a point if the answer is chosen as best.

you click on the star but I think you can't do it because you have to get to level 2 first. I am not sure though so just try clicking on the star

You have to have a certain amount of points first. Then you click on it. You can't star your own question.
