Next year? How about right now? This is one of the best times to visit Disneyland (September and October). The summer crowds are long gone, and the weather is nice. (Upper 70's and low 80's today, BTW). We went on Labor Day, and NOBODY was there. We walked on to rides. The attendance really picks up around Thanksgiving, but once you get into mid-October, the chance of rain increases significantly. Not that the park closes, but I wouldn't want to spend all that money and go in the rain. Although if it DOES rain, there won't be any lines.
As for other things to do, here's my LA Top Ten for Kids:
Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors can’t be wrong. (Sometimes it seems all at once)
Universal Studios (expensive, geared more for the older kids): A theme park that grew out of a studio tour. Check out eBay. You can find some discounted tickets there. And Universal City Walk is a fun place to hang out in the evening after your day inside the park.
Hollywood: Hollywood Boulevard is ready for its close-up, thanks to years of urban renewal and renovation. Most kids won’t really like the Walk of Fame or Chinese Theater. However, the El Capitan theater, which was restored to its former glory, is owned by Disney and shows recently released Disney movies as well as older Disney that has been released on DVD (like the Little Mermaid).
Santa Monica Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies. (The Sting and "Three's Company" come immediately to mind).Bubba Gump Shrimp Company right on the pier.
Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, Pony Rides and Griffith Park Railroad, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage. While the zoo is not as good as San Diego Zoo, it is still good, and enough to entertain most kids. The Pony Rides and railroad are for the younger kids. Travel Town is a rail museum where you’re not SUPPOSED to climb on the engines, but kids have been ignoring those signs for 40 years. The recently renovated Observatory now requires shuttle reservations.
Los Angeles Science Center: A favorite museum for kids for over 40 years. Exposition Park, by the Coliseum.
Discovery Science Center, Santa Ana: The big cube right next to I-5, exit Main St.
Los Angeles Children’s Museum: Located downtown near the Music Center
La Brea Tar Pits/Paige Museum: What kid doesn’t like dinosaur exhibits?
Places to eat:
In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone.
Pink’s Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. Might see a celebrity.
Tommy’s Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. Original location at Beverly & Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.
Canter’s Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly & Melrose. Near CBS, might spot a celebrity.
Phillippe’s: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station, Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, it’s hot.
Places to Stay:
In Hollywood, I recommend the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel and the Farmer's Daughter Hotel.
In Anaheim, I recommend the HoJo Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. If you want to splurge and make this a most memorable trip, stay at Disney’s Grand Californian. You get the full Disney experience.
In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced.
Read some of my other posts for other Disney tips.

Go when other kids are in school in midweek. The lines will be shorter. We took my daughter the first week in May before she started kindergarten and it was awesome, but October and early November would be good (do not go the week of Thanksgiving or the week after XMas).
In the park, the younger one will proably want ot do more fantasyland stuff, and the older one will be more adventurous. Definitely get the park hopper tickets and add California adventure to your agenda. Roaring Rapids and Soaring California are Disney's best rides in a while. Lots of fun for the 5 year old too.
Make a reservation for at least one character meal, if you can afford it. Probably, for boys, Goofy's Kitchen.
Friends & I frequently stay at the Candy Cane across the street. We have also stayed at the Howard Johnsons. Both are like any other hotel, and clean. Room hover around $100-140 depending on the season.
You can eat at Mimi's next door to Ho Jo. Huge portions, reasonable, and away from Disney mania.
Going to LA or San Diego is quite a drive especially with the local traffic. For other activities, try gocitykids.com for ideas based on your kids ages and likes/dislikes.
For insider scoop of the rides, restaurants, etc. try mouseplanet.com before you go.

Avoid Disneyland in Aug and Sept as there are multiple days each of those months with 100+ degree temps. You don't want to be at Disneyland when it's that hot. Not everyday will be that hot but if you are coming from elsewhere in the country you'll likely be making reservations locking yourself into particular dates and that would make it difficult to change dates at the last minute if it's hot.
Where else to go that won't cost much? The beach! Maybe a baseball game at the Angels' stadium which is very close to Disneyland. You can get inexpensive tix for the game if you order them ahead of time.

Disney World and Disneyland have all kinds of activities for people of all ages. There are hotels near them which are cheaper than the Disney Hotels. Some of those "good neighbor" hotels have free transportation to the Disney Parks. I believe all the parks (you could visit them one a day), have activities for everybody. I suggest you to check the Disney web site and check them all. I think they are having special offers for next year you could take advantage now. Other option is to contact the guys from www.dreamventures.info and allow them to suggest you what is the best for your needs, desires, and budget. The best time? Any time but summer which is the most crowded season.

One of the best times to visit Disneyland is Super Bowl weekend and the week before, the parks are quite slow then with most rides walk on. The only thing you will want ot watch out for is rides being closed for refurbishment due to the slow time of year, you dont want to make a trip and find your all time fav is closed. Keep an eye on the Disney website, www.disney.go.com for closures, park hours and deals on tickets. Weather is generally good also. Try cheaptickets.com or hotels.com for deals on rooms, also that time of year you will often find discounts on park tickets, also try AAA if your a member, they are more likely to have discounted tickets during the slower times of year.

Well your BMI (which means body mass index) is at 29.5. The overweight range is from 25-29.9. But at age 14 that honestly doesnt count. Your growing and your body doesnt respond to all the changes as fast. Plus, most people put on weight before they are about to hit a grow spurt or hit puberty. I promise your weight and height will kinda even out in time. Hope i could help.

Wednesdays are best, during the school year. This might not be a great time for the kids though. If you CAN get them out of school for this trip though, do the two-day thing & see the Dizney Cal. Adventure too... if they like rides that is. Summers can be hot & weekends/holidays are just torture. Have a good trip!
