for the good, yes, of course
the power of the tongue has the ability to
create or destroy - we are doing this all
the time anyway - to ourselves (with our thoughts)
as well as to others

We all affect each other in small ways which, when added up over time can be very profound. This can be a positive or negative effect. We do this not so much through words, but mainly with our actions. Only when our words are in line with our actions do they have any effect.
We cannot force anyone to change. But little by little, just by setting a good example, by "walking our talk" the people around us start to take notice.
Unfortunately, by the same token, when we are negative, dishonest, mean, or hypocritical, you create negative drama and suffering.
Remember the movie "It's a Wonderful Life"? That is how we create a ripple effect on the world.
What kind of influence do you want to be?
My favorite quote is by Gandhi: "Be the change you wish to see in the world"

I would say that the story of the life has never even touched the Life at all. No one can fully experience Life while entertaining the fantasies and interpretations of the story figure, or personality. Only "ideas" of life can change. Life IS eternally the same!

People do that all day long. They either use hurting words that tear a person down which eventually changes their life. Others use encouraging words builiding self esteem and that also changes anothers life.
My momma instilled in us that "if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all".

How would every day talk change them?
No One has to be religious to teach others to become followers of God and Jesus.
Unless they say "Here is a free Bible"; so one can learn by reading.

Yes and I would respond by saying something like I love you, hoping the spoken word was a success.

Yes, and that's exactly how I live my life because every word from us can be either uplifting and helpful to someone or just the opposite. I pray my words NEVER cause another human pain or stumbling!

If it meant a better life for that person then yes, but sometimes I believe that people go through hard times to learn to be a stronger person. But if I saw a person who was going to throw their life away, I feel that I would save them and help them turn their life around.

You do have that ability, and you exercise it all the time, whether you know it or not.
For example, when you are discussing your child's bad grade, choosing between calling them dumb for getting the bad grade or telling them they are too smart to be getting grades like that will have a big impact on their life.

Yes. I do it, or attempt to do it almost every day. It's called education.
Mostly, I try to teach people something about insects, and how most of them are not harmful, and some are even beneficial.

Veneficus oris!
It's tempting.
There is a man I love with my whole heart and he is a very good man but there is this one little something that he does that causes me so much pain. I respect him and understand that I must accept him the way he is, but sometimes it's very difficult.
