If only 2% of Muslims are extremists ( I think is is more but take 2% as an example)

There are about 2,000,000 Muslims in the UK, 2% of 2 million is 40,000.I hear the official figure is 1.7 million but that excludes illegal immigrants who may be the most dangerous.See the links below before answering

My concern about Muslims is political and not racist, Islam is not a race.Islam is mostly a combination of politics and law which uses religion as an excuse for implementing laws and establishing the political structure to enforce them.

Watch out for increasing Islamic political pressure as the numbers of Muslims in the west increases.

If by "extremist" you mean suicide killers I doubt it is 2% .My guess is about 0.25% this will reduce your total of 40,000 down to only 5000

Of course it is! It is the few Muslims who have interpreted their holy book in a certain way. You hear most Muslims speak and they talk about what a terrible thing it is that these terrorists are using their religion as an excuse for their violence...

There are always going to be people who take their religion further than most others whatever religion they follow... there are extreme Christians as well who have killed in the name of their religion.. .maybe not so many people have died because of radical Christianity but it has happened!

I work in a University and am surrounded by international students day in, day out and the majority of them are from Muslim countries... I have never met 1 person that could be described as radical in their beliefs.. most of them come over here and act just the same as any other kids do... religion doesn't rule most of their lives...

Each religion has people who follow their beliefs in different ways. Some worship every day and believe every word they are told whereas others believe it simply because they were brought up around it...

If truth be known its only a tiny % of any group be it religious or political that hold extremest views but unfortunatly they are the ones with the loudest voices who put their point across and become the 'Voice' of that group.
There were not a lot of 'Members' Of the IRA but they managed to get enough fellow travelers to listen to them help in minor capacities and mess the rest of the UK around for30 odd years
So watch out for small numbers of extreamests they are the dangerous ones.

Whatever the % is, it's growing !

To me (and a lot of other people, I imagine), it's abundantly clearly that Islam is a religion whose origins are based in greed, power hunger and violence (as lived out by the prophet himself).
I'll probably get a fatwa for this, but what the heck.

Like Christianity and the Crusades of the Holy Roman Empire, it's power was recognised and co-opted for empire building, through the mechanism of Jihad.

The "clean up" of Islam instigated mainly by the Moors, to consolidate their empire (after conquest of course) with justice, is what we have been told is "Islam, the religion of peace"

But the "Wahabi" flavour of Islam continues to gain support and
it is only since 9/11 that the Saud family has tried to distance themselves from "extreme Wahabism".
Never mind the trillions they have probably poured into it's promotion since the 30s, when oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia.

And unfortunately the growing number of Islamic "fundamentalists" seem to have a hankering for the pre-empire days, when the sword was the word of god.

I've not looked the links but 40,000 disaffected Muslims led in I think 40% of Mosques is one heck of a fifth column

Yes i think it is only a tiny percent, allot of Muslims are peaceful people like any other race of people it just a small amount that give the rest of them a bad name which is a great shame as allot of Muslims do not deserve it.

A study of web sites visited by people in various areas found that in Bradford the most visited site was Al Qaeda. Says a lot doesn't it ! A tiny percent ?? don't make me laugh ! Almost every conflict in the world can be connected to the 'religion of peace'.

This is what we are fed, but how many of them came out in protest at the 7/7 bombings and yet they all took to the streets when their prophet was depicted in a Danish cartoon! What do you think?

The % is much higher. For instance Detroit has the largest sleeper terrorist cell in the US. Every state has them. Most leaders of mosque's end up eventually getting arrested for terrorist actvities. The % of extreme muslims world wide is huge. The whole goal of terrorist is to take over america and have us follow the rules of the Quran. And I'm not kidding. There are plenty of terrorist training camps right here in the US.
