Very well put. It also refers to the Woman in Revelation 12. Some people say "woman" is a sign of disrespect, but in fact "woman" refers to Genesic, just as you said. Also, remember the wedding at Cana: Same thing.
A good book to read on this is "Hail Holy Queen" by Scott Hahn. Scott Hahn is a former protestant minister who "came home to Rome" and is now Professor of Scripture and Theology at Franciscan University in Steubenville.

The Woman in Genesis 3:15 is the organization of God.
This is is obviously not taken literal. Israel was the so called wife of God almighty.
Jeremiah 3:14
"Return, faithless people," declares the LORD, "for I am your husband. I will choose you—one from a town and two from a clan—and bring you to Zion.
So the Woman represents Gods symbolic wife.

That interpretation is based on assumption(no pun intended), rather than solid biblical reasoning. I don't mean any disrespect, but as a person who was charmed by the Roman church, and just recently woke up and left, I implore you to apply serious logical standards to your churches claims. I think you will find that most of the Marian beliefs are very late additions to Rome's "infallible teaching", additions that are not only un-biblical but unheard of in the early church.

Wrong! Jesus acknowledged her as "woman" because she is no more special than you, me, or any other of God's children. Jesus knew and so did Mary that her role was nothing more than a vessel being used to bring forth the Savior of mankind. We should be grateful that Mary and Joseph were obedient to God's calling on their lives, but we should not give glory to anyone other than God alone, to do so is "sin." As far as Genesis 3:15 is concerned that Scripture is not shining any light on Mary, but on future Salvation through Jesus on the cross. This is our first promise given of our ultimate victory over Satan and evil. Mary is not being honored here. Salvation is being promised, praise God!

Mary is no greater than you or I if we are believers. God will use anyone, anytime and any where. Believer or not. God uses satan in fact. Through out the bible God used those who were flawed and essentially the underdog. Mary was a good women who followed God. Her faith in Gods grace was all she needed. I recently went to Italy and was appalled by the Catholic churches idol worship and lack of understanding of scripture.
Could the Catholic church be leading some people down a road to meet satan himself? Hmmmmm...

Jesus is said to have called his mother "woman" (John 2:4) the same manner in which he addresses a prostitute "....woman where are those thine accusers?" John 8:10. I find it hard to ascribe this manner to Jesus.

I give her credit for being the type of woman that God would choose to be the mother of the Christ. I think that is a strong compliment to her. I also have sympathy for a mother watching her son go through such torture. However, I draw the line at praising her, worshipping her, or asking her to pray for me. The Bible says that Jesus is our intercessor, no one else.

Mary was jsut a vessel. She did not do anything spectacular. She carried a baby. True the child is God manefested inthe flesh but Marry needs to be saved just like the rest of us. She cannot grant salvation to anyone. This is why Jesus refereed to her as "woman". This was to exemplify her mortality and let it be shown that she is no better than anyother woman or man.
This was not an attempt to humiliate Satan. This was to make sure that she was not worshipped. It was never God's intent for us to worship her or errect statues to remember her by. She was merely an incubator.
