I think its a good credit card esp for first establishing yourself. Stay current! I've had mine for 7 years or so and they keep upping my limit. Don't take the bait and pay it off every month.

They are commonly referred to as "crap one".

Make sure that you pay on time. Don't wait till the last minute and don't pay by phone on the due date. Using their website to pay your bill also could be a problem. Make sure your payment gets there a couple days before the due date.

Late once, you get that hefty late fee. Late a second time and you get the default interest rate. They also will change you to the default rate if your credit score drops or if you have a late payment show on your credit report for some other creditor.

Keep yourself out of debt. Use the card and pay the balance in full and on time every month.

I hate Capital One. Hate Hate Hate.

Okay they arent too bad. But I cancelled all my cards. I was flying home from Paris. While I was on my plane my card was used in Luxenbourg to buy 2 first class tickets to London. The time of the purchase was 2 hours while I was over the Atlantic Ocean. They travel took place to and from London while I was on a plane and in the states.

They took it off saying clearly it was impossible for me to have signed for these tickets or use them. Then they put it back on, even though the day before I reported my Credit Card missing. The day before the purchase.

They didnt care and sued me. I had to get an attorney. They dropped the lawsuit and sold it to a collection company who is now suing me. I am paying again. I call capital one and they say its not their problem anymore they dont own the card.

Im sure I will win, but its still on my credit and Im still fighting it years later.

Im sure all credit card companies have the same horror stories. Thats just mine from capital one.

*Whats in your wallet?* Sure as hell isnt capital one.

Must be if they approved you with zero credit. Go slow, don't overspend and they should be a good credit card company to work with.

Capital One is a very good card to have as long as you pay as agreed.

I have one myself, no fees, very good interest rate (never pay it) because I pay it off every month. 1% cash back every month and a 25% bonus at the end of the year.

I cant stand Capital One.
They arbitrarily raised my rate from 9.99% to 14.99%. When I asked them why, there answer was, "because we can".
So I said cancel the card. They immediately lowered the rate back to 9.99%. I said cancel the card. They then asked why. I said "Because I can".
Total jerks.
