And what's the best brand to buy? The ones I have now are Altec-Lansing. That boy made them sound like poopy :(

He's 16, and he 'blew them up' by turning them up too loud, apparently.
I'm gonna look into that, Fuzzy. (I thought I had a decent brand; obviously, I thought wrong.) Thanks :)

What, like he took cherry bombs and put them in the speakers??
I like poetic justice, so maybe he could listen to good music out of broken speakers. Or maybe just bad music.
But don't make him listen to Celine Dion. That's child abuse.
(Edit) Altec has a reputation for making amplified speakers that go reasonably loud, but have poor sound quality. If you don't really care too much, Logitech has computer speakers at Target that are decent for the price.
If you really want professional sound quality, you have to get M-Audio speakers.

I would think one boy would have now bought his parents a new speaker system for his birthday. As that is how I handle things like this with my two boys. They break it they pay for it, and if they don't have earnings to help with the cost, then chores and a possible lack of funds for fun things are in order.
And honestly I think belief shouldn't be a sign for correcting a childs behavior problems.

Depends on how and why he blew up the computer's speakers.
If he blew them up because he was listening to crappy music at insane volumes, then I'd be upset, and make him pay for a new set of speakers, but only allow him to use the old ones.
If he blew them up because he was listening to good music (i.e. my music files) at insane volumes, then obviously our speakers were insufficient, and I'd take him with me to go buy new, better speakers.
If he blew them up with explosives because he wanted to see what happened when you blew up speakers, I'd punish him because he failed to come get me so I could see the speakers explode too.
It all depends on the context and the intent behind the speakers blowing up.

You did not mention how old the child is and therefore if he is old enough let him pay for new speakers or if he is not old enough to work then forgive him and prevent it from happening again.
