I think that the Christians have fallen down on the job by allowing (un)Intelligent (bad) Design to be equated with Christianity. For that, we cannot take responsibility, but we can take responsibility for promoting science without regard to religious beliefs. Biology class should not include theology lectures.

The funny thing is that it is usually Christians that equate Evolution with Atheism.
You really want to take BIOLOGY out of Public Schools? I hope this is not so!

Evolution is not exactly equated with atheism. But evolution does give us a story of origins more consistent with facts, as well as more magnificent that the lies of Genesis or any other religious creation myth. But this is no different than any other scientific finding which has offered more logical explanations to natural phenomena than the resort to demons, spirits, ghosts and other myths.

Atheism has nothing to do with evolution, and vis versa. Evolution happened. Anyone with knowledge of science knows this. Atheism is a belief.

I don't equate evolution with atheism. Evolution stands as a separate idea. Atheism is about not believing in a god.

Most mainstream religions, although rooted in myth and superstition can find relevance in the following; however, since Christianity is the superstition of choice in America this pertains primarily to them.
A Christian person is one who believes in a God or gods.
An atheist is one that rejects the concept of a God or gods.
Evolution is science and should be taught as science.
Creationism, aka Intelligent Design, is a religious belief and should be taught as a religious belief.
Science should be taught in nonreligious schools
Religion should be taught in religious schools or Churches.
Science and religion don't mix.

I am a Deist Evolution is happening!
Do you know there were Christian clerics that opposed the introduction of Creationism into UK state Schools in 2002. It won't be happening.
Seriously even the Christians here don't buy Creationism.
