Weird? No, it's obsessive-compulsive.

1. Learn to squat and hover over the bowl instead of making contact with the seat in public, at least if you only have to pee...
2. If you're going to do it, I suggest you switch to using hand sanitizer or diluted rubbing alcohol instead. That will be safer coming in contact with your skin so soon after applying it to the seat. Also, Purel or the equivilent is more convenient and safer to carry around in your purse than bleach!
3. The only really unusual part is when you do it at home, especially if you were the last one on there.
4. If thinking about using a toilet without sanitizing it first makes you feel extremely anxious and nervous then you might want to talk to a doctor.

Sounds a bit over the top to me.
You are definitely in the minority.
Is it right or wrong? Only you know to the degree you take this issue and what internal thoughts you are having that prompt these actions.
But germaphobia is real and it is a psychological condition and worth getting into check.
The fact is that most germs that might be on a toilet seat, will stay on the toilet seat after you get up.
They are not crawling into any of your orifices.
I am mostly put out by the "drops" left on the seat by folks with bad aim or splashes, but I just wipe with a bit of TP for that. Once it's dry, I have no hesitation to sit my heavy butt down and flatten those little germies!
Some girls I know have very strong leg muscles. Hmmm.....I wonder how???

I don't think it's weird. Then again, I have a few bathroom quirks, myself.
For instance, if I get up in the morning and have a BM, I almost always leave the bathroom for a few minutes before taking my shower. Also, after having a BM, I have gotten in the habit of spraying bathroom cleaner into the toilet and flushing it. I refuse to take a shower with any waste in the toilet, and I am disgusted when people leave the toilet open (and I'm a guy, too). Finally, when I take a shower, I like to either have the door cracked or have the bathroom window open.
Do you feel any better about yourself now? lol

I am kind of germaphobic too.
However, you should know that the toilet seat isn't the dirtiest part of a bathroom. Not by a long shot.
The handles on the doors, the paper dispensers, etc are a lot dirtier.

we all have our quirks...maybe it is a little overboard, but not sure i'd say 'weird' in this age of being so germ-conscious. keep in mind our mothers/grandmothers/etc survived just fine without being so anti-bacterial as we are now. i once read a magazine article about using the women's restroom, and it said that if a toilet seat were bad enough to do any real harm, it would be so dirty we wouldn't want to sit on it anyway. i use the seat covers most of the time they're available, or at least line with toilet tissue, but not ALWAYS, and if i don't do that, i keep in mind that article i read.

Just to let you know the toilet seat at home is usually cleaner than most people's work area. Things like the keyboard, mouse, work phone, and cell phones have way more germs because our hands carry the germs around by shaking hands with people that might be sick or touching things that are dirty. So washing your hands and wiping down those things I mentioned above will be a lot more useful than wiping your toilet seat.. unless you can see the dirt on it.

First of all, undiluted bleach is too strong for this task.
Second, toilet seats are not as dirty as you may think. If you are really worried about germs, you should be more careful about touching items like doorknobs, computers, etc.
Third, germophobia does not "rub off" on people. If this behavior bothers you enough that you are asking about it, it seems like you might be concerned about yourself. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have yourself evaluated by a competent mental health professional.
To your health!

No, I think that's okay. I definitaley agree with doing that in public restrooms as those are disgusting. I never ever sit down in public restrooms, and at my own house, even if I was the last person that used the toilet, I still put toilet paper all over the seat before I sit on it.

No, it's not weird. We could all stand to be a little more careful when it comes to germs & bacteria.
If you feel your behavior is strange, however, & it's beginning to get to you, maybe you should talk to your doctor or a professional in the medical/pychological field about this.He or she could maybe clue you in as to why you might be doing this & why you can't seem to stop, as well as some statistics on how dirty those toilet seats really are.
Nothing wrong w/ being clean!Just don't let it rule your world!

Nope, not weird. I never touch the toilet seat even at home. Since their are males in our family and in public it is unsafe and unsanitary for a woman to sit down on what those men and boys are pissing all over. When I absolutely have to touch the seat, I clean it first and I line it with toilet paper. Women can pick up std's from public toilets because pee carries blood if any is on the seat when you sit down you are putting yourself at risk.
