What "we" need to be worrying about is the stress on the middle class. Reports as late show more and more stress on the middle class and I hope you understand that without a middle class this nation WILL fall.

Instead of worrying about saving the employers a buck or two on labor maybe you should consider the middle class carrying the entire tax burden for all services that illegal immigrants use. If you only count the two services that we all agree on (health care and education) the figures are staggering.

specific it may in lots of way. Jobs could open up, the federal government does no longer be spending $3 hundred+ billion a 300 and sixty 5 days and ought to re-make investments that into human beings. There could be an predicted 30+million much less human beings in this u . s . a . ingesting components. colleges does no longer be over crowded, hospitals does no longer be so broke from ILLEGALS making use of the ER for widely used centers and then sticking them with the bill. Billions of greenbacks of state revenues could be decrease back because of the fact states could ot be spending a lot on ILLEGALS. Crime could bypass down, gangs could leave, housing values could bypass up, id theft could bypass down, and it is purely to call some issues. shall we additionally handle this subject of "Race" and human beings calling people who're against ILLEGALIMMIGRANTS "Racist" unlawful IMMIGRANT is a criminal status no longer a RACE. Mexican is a man or woman from MEXICO that isn't any longer a RACE There for a man or woman who's against ILLEGALS and or Mexicans can no longer ba a racist.

I hope you are talking about illegals because the legal immigrations are just fine with most Americans/
That's a risk most Americans are willing to risk. If we do not get a handle on the illegal immigration problem it will only get worse. In 1986 amnesty was granted to 3.1 million illegals, now 2007 we have between 12-20 million, I would say more like 20-50 million where will this all end.

Uh excuse me, our border being wide open is something that needs to be addressed, period. I don't see every illegal immigrant in this country being deported, if they are here, they're here! Those people who are illegal I would wish they would work on getting some type of citizenship and pay taxes like the rest of us do, however I know our Government is broken in that area and we need to create some sort of program or system to make that happen so no families get seperated or lose their jobs and everything else, BUT I alsop dont want millions more coming over the border illegally compounding the problem more and more , not to mention now we have terrorisim to worry about and any terrorists could get through our border easily with anything they wanted, anyone, at anytime, and we need to think about that and be smarter than that. It's careless to not do something about it and I consider any person who still thinks the border should be open even when it concerns terrorists and so forth coming over, your not a true american!!

Really the idea is not to suddenly make them all disappear. Thats not feasable nor a good idea. If you shut the borders effectively and allow "normal" attrition through deportation as it now exists then the illegal population will slowly decline. At the same time, we do need a ready supply of unskilled workers to do these crappy manual labor jobs. Shutting the border will reduce that supply and will force employers to increase wages, and subsequently increase the prices of those goods. To prevent the dreaded wage increase you must continue to have people who will work for very low wages. The goal is to modify the immigration policy to make LEGAL immigration easier than illegal immigration.
The US population is 300 Million. Unemployment is currently at 4.6% or 13.8 million. There are 12 million estimated illegals here now(4%). Magically making them disappear would create a worker shortage due to limits in workforce mobility, but that's just never been a serious concideration.
It's true that the enforcement of these immigration laws has not been very strict but they have continued to deport people who are caught for the entire history so it is not fair to say anyone "let" them break the law. There are a number of Safe Heaven areas where local governments have refused to enforce federal law but again that is not saying that the federal government "let" them stay.
Really this problem is huge. What more did you think we should deal with? Illegal immigrants send home 50 billion dollars a year. That is money earned here but not spent here. Its worse than the 200 billion trade deficit with china cause we don't even get any goods in return. While anyone paid by check (most illegals work for cash) will pay federal income tax, this money is not spent in our markets and does not generate local sales tax. The children of illegals go to school but the schools loose tax revenue and are streched thin. Immigrant students are usually not good english speakers and require more teacher time to get the same education. The tax revenue is vital. Illegals commonly share housing space due to the difficulties of being with out valid ID documents and therefore without bank accounts. The shared housing means that they will pay less property tax per capita. This affects school funding and community resources.
Go to a high school in a border area like San Diego and tell me what else we should be working on.

So what you are saying is that the poor and middle class Citizens should just accept illegals because the rich would lose profits by not having enough slave labors to work for them--is that about right? That logic could have came right out of the Tyson Corps board room, because it surely did not originate amongst the working class in this country.

And we should keep them because the price of housing would drop to a reasonable level--from the absurd level of today. Sounds great, if you are a real estate speculator; but not so hot for the American Working Class.

Further we should keep them so that we do not have stores closed down? This might be a big deal to the land owners that will lose out on leases, but it might be a good news to the American Citizen that wants to have a bit more bargaining power against a potential landlord.

Moreover the costs of eliminating the illegals as a social force would be more than out weighed by the benefits in the form of savings. No more multilingual schools; no more welfare for illegals; no more cost of imprisoning them for illegal activity besides being here illegal....and on and on and on.

The fact is that if the de facto slave labor where to go by by the fat cats would be forced to pay first world wages for a honest days labor; supply and demand and all. And that is the reason that they will try to keep them, come hell or high water. They are a tool for the Rich to use to keep the poor in line and to attempt to force them into third world poorness.

This is a fact. And I for one, will NOT just shut up and let them hand my Country over to ignorant third worlders so that they can get more profits at the expense of my People.

Now is the time to worry about fixing this ClusterF##k as it is absolutely out of hand, Deport; Deport Now; and Deport Later. Deport, Deport, Deport!!

well we have given around seven amnesties before that was supposed to fix the problem so those people were made legal then guess what more came to fill the positions missing from the old illegals so here we are today and what will happen if we make these people legal a new batch will come to fill there spots because companies don't to want to play by the rules . and speaking of population at the rate of the impact of above mentioned plus the millions more they want to bring in we will be facing major population problems we are on our way to becoming a third world country to take in millions upon millions of people legal and illegal ,and expect no social, population, environmental, and economic implications is crazy !!

It might help our economy. I get annoyed how people try to over simplify a complex subject of Economy. First, Housing is way too expensive. The Average home in L.A> is over half a million. We need property value to crash. As for Jobs, we are preparing for that. We are improving how we bring in legal immigrants. We are stream lining the H2A visa, which is unlimited. These Visas are for farm laborer. Losing some population would be good in LA, which has the highest number of illegal immigrant. Our streets are way to congested, rent is too high, and we are in a water shortage, as well as a power shortage. These things are costing our fair city money to deal with. Also you must realize, If we have a labor shortage, salaries would go up. That means per person, we pay more taxes.

We assume 20 million illegals are here. Currently we have 301 million people here - 20 million is not going to have that much of an impact.we have bigger things to worry ,come on since we had 9-11 we should be concerned about document fraud and have control over who enters the country. Ones deeds do not justify how others can break a number of laws because they help our economy and it's no big deal.

Can't you see that we don't WANT all immigrants gone? We want the ILLEGAL immigrants gone! They are raping the system and they are taking over our communities. They are sending money back to their families so they TOO can hop the border, demand civil rights and healthcare, mass produce and fill our schools with non-English speaking kids.

It's only fair to this country that these ILLEGAL immigrants should leave. It's only going to get worse if we don't do something NOW.
