of the McCanns?
I ploughed through just about all the papers today and the Mirror had an interesting snippet which alleged that the Vatican had removed all mention of the McCanns from its website.
What do you think about that?

Dixie Cat, I have an obvious prejudice? I don't know why you say that. I thought my question was quite simple. As an RC myself I hardly think I am prejudiced against the Church!

Scorpionbabe. Good point but it seems that most religions have this problem. I wondered it perhaps the Pope thought he'd been taken for a ride. It seems a bit draconian though.

rukidding. Where did I suggest a cover up? Apart from that the Vatican is interested in what goes on in Catholic countries, of which Portugal is one.

Grottybodkin, thank you for your answer but her name is Kate, not Lynn.

Oracle, I agree, but I have to wonder why on earth the Pope agreed to see them 'in line' in the first place.

McCann did not have a formal visit with the Pope but joined the normal line!!!!
The church should not be involved with the parents in the current circumstances. After all the Roman Catholic church is still trying to get over all the child abuse allegations against itself and all the compensation it has paid and may still have to pay.
The McCanns neglected their THREE children and one parent is now a suspect. Whilst the local church can be involved I am sure the Vatican is absolutely right not to be involved itself.

I would imagine that the Vatican would be reporting on things going on in the Vatican, not Portugal. You suggest some sort of cover-up, but I can't imagine why the Vatican would have any mention of a family tragedy from the UK that happened in Portugal.

I think it amazing anyone would want to go on the Vatican site to read about the McCanns in the first place. You tell me what you think about that?

I can't understand why anyone should thumbs down 'Chuckles', what he stated is perfectly true. Is everyone too afraid to face the truth. God is not going to punish the truth seekers, if there is a (fair)God then He will punish the the Deceivers.

why would the vatican, a country, have the McCains there in the first place?(this is assuming you mean McCain)
ok wait, you mean McCann, the english girl who was kiddnapped in portugal.
either way, why would they have it in the first place, there's not too much of that info on that site regarding news and events outside of conventions.

I think they should wait until someone is convicted of this crime before jumping on the band-wagon. I'm not a McCann sympathiser, but no-one has been convicted yet.
And if Lynn is convicted, then the Vatican should hold its hands up and admit to being wrong. It's hypocritical to do otherwise.
EDIT: Ooooh, thanks for the thumbs down!!

I think the Catholic church has enough scandal to deal with already in the form of paedophilia.
I think we shall see a lot more high profile people distancing themselves from the McCann's over the next few days.
Edit. I agree Rosie it certainly makes you wonder what the Pope and his officials must be thinking.

Yes I heard it on the news I find it very strange, still I don't believe the Mc Cann's are involved in any way with Maddie disappearance.
