Just moved from rainy Europe to Sunny Arizona. I will for sure apply for a AZ driving license (i.e. pass the tests), but being too busy, I'm still driving with European license. Would anyone know how long I can do that? Thx in advance.

First off, ignore the advice about the international licence. That person is wrong, wrong, wrong! It is actually a travelling licence or permit, and is only good with the licence from the home country.

You are resident in AZ as soon as you meet any of the following criteria, and must obtain AZ licence, or you are driving illegally.
- you live in Arizona.
- you take a job in AZ
- you have children in school and are not paying a nonresident fee.
- you own a business with an office, base, or vehicles in Arizona
- you have a state license or pay the same school tuition fees as resident
- you transport goods or passengers within the state
- you reside in Arizona seven or more months of every year
- you are registered to vote in AZ

What the heck are you using for a vehicle and insurance?

I'm not sure, but to tell you the truth, I don't think you really want to!!! I was in Cairo a few months ago, and WOW is all I can tell you. Good luck trying to make a left hand turn, merging, or following any type of rules. There were lines for 3 lanes, but somehow some way there were 4 lanes. In traffic, you can literally reach out your window and touch the person in the car next to you, and that is no joke. Also, my dad asked a worker at the hotel we were staying at, about car insurance...yeah, gotta have that in Cali, and the guy said that people just pay on the spot. I'm guessing that if you don't have the money, you get your butt kicked....don't know. I hope the guy was joking about about people not having insurance. But, the traffic was so horrible, that if you did get in an accident, the damage wouldn't be expensive. Probably just get a little dent. All I know is that you should be afraid to drive over there.

Call Arizona DMV and ask because different states have different rules (as an example, in California you have 30 days to get California drivers license.)

Why not just get an international license, then you can drive in almost any country you want, legally.

Most places it's 30 days. But how are
they to know until you tell them?
I wouldn't wait too long though.
