Honestly, I believe the majority parents in America should be forced to teach their children how to control their eating habits, and maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle. There are just to many parents who dont care about the physical fitness of their child. I believe the United States would benefit if the government took a stand and said enough is enough. And force parents to raise their children in a way that will ensure them a future of fitness and good health. America has become one of the most unhealthy places in the world, and as a superpower. We need to look like one to. We are loseing strength, we are only ahead in the world by technological standards, but are sinking in health. if parents cant or wont do what is necessary to teach young americans the benefit of a healthy life style, then the government should, because it affects the US in many ways. what are your thoughts on this?

I don't know about take "control", the government has enough control. BUT- as far as in school, i think that yes, healthy well balanced meals should be provided, only, not this fried food and nachos- it's not "teaching" them anything. To have nothing but healthy foods available, the student bodies would see that action has been taken, there are too many obese children in this country. It's disgusting how parents allow them to gorge themselves with garbage.

I think the government is already way too involved in personal life. It is as if "Uncle Sam" is expected to have all the answers and tell us all what we should do. Whatever happened to taking personal responsibility for your own life? Whatever happened to personal freedoms? Frankly, if parents aren't teaching their kids, then the kids will have to learn on their own, it is not the government's job to raise them like a nice row of little robots that are all exactly alike. Heck if you want the government to "force" people to do anything you are asking for big troubles, because once they start doing that, freedom and individual liberties are done and this is no longer the land of the free, it becomes the land of control.

If the government was to take control of anything it should be gas companies and credit card companies who are strangling the american economy...i agree that the parents today dont do as much as they should...but our Government is already way too involved in our private lives...lets not invite another nazi germany!
