You are here to learn, not be converted or to convert. I'm not here to convince anyone anything, I'm here to teach and share my knowledge.
Sorry, I spelled everything wrong because I'm stupid.

I'm here to read view points. That's it. What someone believes or does not believe is none of my business. I do get a kick out of the people here who are just positive they have the correct answer ... whether it's about Chritianity or Atheism... for some reason, they are the one and only expert on the subject.
Cracks me up.

No I am not here to make anybody believe in God or to be converted to atheism. I am already strong in my beliefs and I am just here to learn the beliefs of others religions and why they believe what they do. To understand them from their own perspectives and to enlighten those who have no real knowledge of anything. And maybe in the process somebody might actually be listening and come to a different conclusion about God.

I don't convince anyone of what I believe. I'm here to refute common misconceptions about Atheism. Half of the time when someone asks a question, they're clearly seeking validation. I try to sway from those type of questions. I don't need to participate in a "yes" fest. Of course, I'm here to pass time.

From what I've seen, I'd say that no we will not be changing the minds of any athiests here. The questions are never serious.
Why am I here, I was hoping to find some serious Bible studies and conversation as I've found on other boards. Not so much luck with that! :)

I'm here for interesting threads, to learn, to laugh, for entertainment, to ocassionally encourage someone legitimately, to ocassionally be a smart-alek, to say things in a different way when I can, to hear other perspectives,... but I don't expect to convince anyone of anything, and no one else is going to change my core beliefs.

Well... why don't you try thinking of it as a public service.
In case you haven't noticed, there is a 'cultural war' in progress. On one side, we have sanity, rationality and critical thinking. In the opposing corner, we have gullibility, irrationality, willful ignorance, self-delusion, intellectual dishonesty, drooling stupidity and hypocrisy (religion). This happens to be a battlegound in that war... essentially, a war of ideas.
We're not seeking to 'convert' anyone... that is futile. The systematic religious indoctrination (brainwashing) that has been inflicted upon the 'other side' conveys a demonstrable immunity to things like reason, logic, evidence and critical thinking.
However... I consider it to be our ethical duty and moral responsibility as sane, rational human beings to intervene, in the hope of protecting vulnerable, questioning young minds from being infected by the dangerous and harmful religious 'meme' (viral idea)... protecting them from droolingly stupid nonsense like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xKDKq_PPbk&mode=related&search=
Also... honesty compels me to confess that I have a kind of morbid curiosity and fascination in observing the alleged 'minds' of believers in action.

I use to think I could change minds perhaps. Then I realized I am planting seeds in all the unbelievers. I can only pray they start to grow into a full blown son or daughter of Christ. Choose Him now. I just recently was face to face with death I did feel doomed but did not fear where I was going when I thought of that. When you are in that situation that is all that matters. Repent and be baptized. Peace out...................

I plant seeds; someday, rational thought might bring believers to understand the basic flaw in their thinking processes. I don't expect conversions, which are emotion and not reason based.
