Diet and exercise.

slowly... you should try to lose about 5 pounds a month which is about 60 pounds in a year but the slower you lose the weight the more likely you are to keep it off.

couple things you need to start doing.

1) exercising.... you need to have some physical activity every week. Even walking for an hour 4-5 days a week is a great start. Try anything that will make it fun for you I've heard of people trying to lose weight playing the wii (not great exercise for you but better than doing nothing).... you need to exercise it will make losing the weight healthily very much acheivable. 1 hour a day 4-5 days a week something that will get your heart rate up.

2)Diet
your diet must change I don't advocate starvation diets and I don't advocate not eating things you love. Here's what you need to do.
a) Start drinking water(not soda juice or anything else just water)... generally 64 oz a day (2 liters), however if you're overweight and getting a bunch of exercise you may end up needing closer to 3 liters a day (be careful not to go too far over this cause drinking way too much water can cause death)
b) eat regularly throughout the day... you need 3 meals spaced periodically throughout the day, what would be even better would be to eat something every couple hours. Portion sizes will be smaller than your current meals but you eat more frequently to make up for it.

c) eat things that have nutrition, listen the problem with fast food is that it's got a buttload of calories and no nutrition so when you finish eating you still feel hungry because your body eats things for nutrition and will continue to want food until you give it what it is craving(the nutrients not the food most of the time). I'm not saying you can't eat fatty foods but what I am saying is that you need to eat things like fruits vegetables whole grain breads etc... these MUST be in your diet.

d) no more Mcdonalds or any other fast food, you can eat out but go to like a nicer restaurant where they don't serve you everything all at once and it's customary to take home leftovers

e) take a multivitamin... they're just good for you so do it.

f) consult a dietition they can come up with a better diet than I can.

3) visualization
you need confidence and support because losing 80 pounds is hard to do no matter how you slice it. Write down your weight every day as motivation seek groups to exercise with workout partners somebody who will try to lose weight with you. Confidence and believing in your self in my opinion is critical.
I reccommend reading http://www.amazon.com/What-Say-When-Talk-Yourself/dp/1567310028/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-4382224-6325526?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1189190112&sr=8-1
this book it's about self talk and basically teaches you how to build confidence in yourself. I think if you do all of the above in 18 months you'll easily make your goal of losing 80 pounds and keep it off.

Diet AND Excercise. Not just one or the other will do it....just make sure you stick with a program that can be a lifestyle change. Don't just start eating salad only or you will freak out and binge one day eating everything you can. Try incorporating healthy but tasty foods to your diet and start with a light workout everyday. Good beginning example:
45 minute brisk walk 6 days a week and light stretch with light weight training 3-5 days a week.
Cut out all the bad food in your life.
packaged foods like chips, cookies, canned stuff and frozen stuff is usually bad for you. NO soda and alcohol!!!
Drink more water and teas (easy on the sugar)
THINK about this everytime you go to eat....
is there LEAN protein on your plate? (palm-ful) fish or white chix
is there at least one vegetable? (not covered in oil and cheese or fried) should take up 3/4 of the plate
and a good carb? brown rice, sweet potato, quinoa, barley, oatmeal (unsweetened), or fruit?
Start by using this as a guideline. Pick up the eat clean diet book or the abs diet book if you would like recipes and a more strict guideline.
Try counting your calories and google sites to see how many you should be consuming for your weight and age in order to lose weight.
Also, keep a workout diary. I keep a calendar next to me at work and write down my workout everyday and highlight those days so you can see your improvement.
Stay OFF the scale... only get on once a month and take a pic so you can see your progress.
Hope that helped! good luck!

eat a well balanced diet with proper portions. drink plenty of water. exercise at least 30 mintues every day. these sites can help you find out how. there are loads of books and websites that can help you. do the things that make sense to you and ignore the things you don't want to do and feel won't help you.
