I keep my bows strung if I'm shooting them regularly, but I un-string them if it's going to be more than a few days idle. Just remember to check your brace height when you restring and shoot a few times.I would not advise using oil of any kind on your bow. A good rub down with a clean terry cloth towel is all I ever do. But I would defer to the maufacturers recommendations on that topic. Use bees wax on your string. Martins make nice traditional bows good luck and have fun.

JD gave you a good answer and I do that also. One point I would toss in is for Compound Bows. Generally speaking Compound bows are never unstrung as there is so very little tension on the string it will not hurt the bow or the string. If you do unstring your Compound bow or have to replace a worn string check with the manufacture (on Internet) to see what the settings they recommend for a new string. It will not be the same as what you had on your old string. They also may advise you what brand of string works best with their bow and the proper length. Plan ahead and have that string in your kit when you go bow hunting or target shooting.

You can leave it strung or unstrung it either way. To care for the bow itself, polish it with a little Pledge Furniture Cleaner, or any paste type wax, with a clean ,soft rag. Your string on the other hand should be rubbed with Beeswax or Paraffin to help preserve it . Avoid getting any oil on your string what-so-ever as it will damage the strands of your string.

always unstring your bow after shooting, oil it if its wood, keep it in a safe, dry place. this will help you shoot safer, because its a much easier to do safety checks (string wear, bow, etc.) when you have to restring it, rather than grab and go. I doubt your string needs oil, being that its probably synthetic, I'd advise getting out the user manual or looking it up on the manufacturers site to see if there are any special products to wipe your bow or string down with, they should have any special care instructions as well.
