if it is a baby tooth, the dentist shouldn't even offer a root canal. It is much cheaper to have it pulled than to have a root canal. Is there a concern that you won't have a large tooth to replace the baby tooth? If the dentist did an x-ray, they should have seen the other tooth and just reccomended pulling it. The only time baby teeth get root canals are when the child is way too young to lose the tooth--meaning they have a few years before the other teeth come in.

First - root canals are NOT super painful. It's annoying, but any decent dentist can keep you numbed enough that it won't hurt much. It's not the most pleasant thing to ever undergo, but it's not like they're pulling your fingernails out by the roots.

Second - if it's a baby tooth, and you're old enough, you may have your adult teeth developing already. You may be able to have this tooth extracted. Or you may be able to just get a filling in this one, and that'll be enough until you lose this tooth.

But only a qualified dentist can give you an opinion you can trust. No dentist is going to give you a definitive diagnosis over the web. They will want to examine your teeth first, to see what the actual situation is. Brush and floss now, and ask at your next cleaning and exam.

well, that all depends. If you have a permanent tooth under it and if you are supposed to lose it soon I would say just get it pulled.(some people are born without the permanent teeth to replace the baby ones.) If there is no permanent tooth under it, or if you aren't going to loose it anytime soon (it goes on how the teeth are erupting, your dentist can tell you) then I would say get it fixed.

If it's a baby tooth, you should be able to have it pulled. Have it done quickly though so that the root doesn't get damaged!!!
