He was screaming the same single syllable over and over again, then this other dude supposedly translated it into something like "God is watching over you, protecting you, have no fear for he is always there."
Why do I find this hard to believe?

I used to attend a pentecostal church all the time.

Quella Bella™ go into any pentecostal church that practices "tongues" and you'll see for yourself.

Quella Bella™ Yes, how can one syllable mean an entire conversation in any language other than gibberish?

danibell919: I wonder how many people that gave you thumbs up because they think my story is bs, and how many gave you thumbs up because they think "speaking in tongues" is bs.

Quella Bella™: In the bible when this happened, they were speaking actual languages, not gibberish. People understood what they were saying. This single translator is simply making stuff up. Have YOU ever been a holy translator?

You find it hard to believe, because you are lying right now.

EDIT: You use to attend a Pentecostal Church and you don't understand?

I do attend a Pentecostal Church! I completely understand, that's why I don't understand why if you attended a Pentecostal Church for a while, that you don't understand.

I don't know! That's why it's a mystery. But I do know this...when a child begins to speak, utter their first words, it's the same syllable over and over again. The more they grow, the more developed their language becomes. If you attended a Pentecostal Church, you should know that the utterance of tongues is prayer language. It's the Holy Spirit within you praying a perfect prayer.
Who's to say what it should or should not sound like. Not me!
----------
I've been a spirit filled, tongue talking believer over 20 years. I've never been a 'holy translator'. People often confuse speaking in tongues and the Gift of tongues.
The first is a prayer language between you and God, the second is a Word from God that needs a 'holy translator'. Not all will have the second. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are given as needed.
The first miracle was the speaking in tongues. The second miracle was the enabling of SOME to understand the tongues.
Not everyone understood the tongues, because some onlookers made fun of the disciples and accused them of being drunk; this clearly shows that they did not understand the tongues.

Yes, to some it will sound like gibberish...but to others, it will sound like perfect English, Spanish etc....

look in the bible in ACTS Chapter 2. it tells you about speaking in tongues. it is a gift from the HOLY SPIRIT. read Mark Chapter 3, Jesus says
ANYONE speaking Blasphemy against the HOLY SPIRIT can never be Forgivin. So, any sin He will forgive you for but not that. there's praying in tongues and also speaking in tongues which when speaking in tongues, someone there then tells you what the Holy Spirit was saying. It is the Spirit Of TRUTH. He can not lie. there are many other gifts from the holy spirt too. your suppossed believe all the Bible not chose what you like or don't like. the Bible clearly says no one is to take away or add on to the Bible at the end of Revelations.

Maybe a charismatic church is not for you. Try a Calvery Chapel. Remember that tongues are of the spirit. Personally, I like the verse that says paising the Lord in your own language edifies everyone.

One strange thing about people who think they speak in tongues is that some are even taught how to speak in tongues. Supposedly, it's supposed to just come upon you, but what good is speaking in tongues if no one will benefit from it? Some believe they themselves benefit from it when they speak, but I don't see it. There have been many claims to speaking in tongues, and most of them have been proven to be no known intelligible language.

This person sounds like he needs help,he needs to be put away for his own good and heavily medicated. It's only a matter of time before someone like that hurts himself or someone else. Probably end up drowning his kid in the tub like that religious nut down in Texas.

It's all fun and games until someone gets confused by natural gibberish, then it's even more fun and games. It would be a great supply for laughter.

I have always heard to not speak it if you don't understand it! This whole speaking in tongues freaks me out. I call them "snake charmer churches"
I have VERY close friends that are penecostal and they go to church weekly but will NOT take part in the whole snake charmer thing

I only believe and trust in what I hear from God Himself, Him and His Word. The "rantings" of people I ignore.

Hmm.

Was it Penn and Teller?

Was it in spanish?

Altho there is biblical basis for "speaking in tongues" as well as the gift of understanding (interpretation)...I find it VERY HARD to accept this as the extremely common phenomenon seen today. Very hard. Well, actually dang near impossible.

My opinion leans to "false prophet".
