It sure did.

Later in Deuteronomy 31 he tells the Israelites to kill thousands of captive boys and mothers, but to keep the virgin girls as spoil.

He had a bit of a temper apparently.

Grendel, I guess if I worshiped a God who ordered the killing of mothers, babies and boys I would make sure my grammar concerning his name was correct as well.

each faith, provided that faith began, has had to respond to that first huge question: If God is suitable and he's familiar with what he's doing, and all his creation is suitable, then why are not -we- appropriate? And why does existence on earth suck so undesirable? The Bible does it with the creation tale in Genesis. i don't think it replaced into ever meant to be taken actually, it variety of feels very for sure to me to be meant as allegory, as symbolism. God created guy and lady as component to a brilliant plan. He gave guy and lady a substantial present of intelligence and interest, and unfastened will. and that they chosen to apply their very own judgement as a replace of doing as he stated. it is not approximately ingesting fruit, that's a often used element, purely the way human beings are, too proud and rebellious and autonomous. i in my view think of God set it up this variety on purpose. What in the event that they hadn't eaten the fruit? There may be no tale. the finished Bible may be 3 pages long and we does not be right here to study it besides. All of human history, often advancing interior the the final option course, starts off with the 'unique sin' of Adam and Eve. guy's shortcomings are purely shortcomings in the event that they're seen that way. we've impressive features and powers, yet we use them incorrect and that leads to plenty distress. We -ought to- do greater effective, and it is not God's fault that we don't.

To answer your question, no, that's not the God I worship.

The God I worship sent Jesus to explain to people that the God in that story wasn't the correct portrayal of God.

Historically, the single line of scripture you quoted out of context was written by people hundreds of years AFTER THE FACT -- So that in hindsight, they justified their actions by saying God told them to do it.

A personal example would be for everyone who knows or hears about you over the next 200 years to define who you are based on what your sibling said about you when you were five years-old.

The rest of the world is able to understand that perceptions of you grow and evolve over time . . . but you, and people who quote the Torah out of historical context, are all wanting to see theology from a five-year-old's perspective.

Many churches actually have answers like this for adults who want an adult understanding of the history of the Bible. I encourage you to find a church like this.

Godspeed.

He's done worse. He killed the ENTIRE WORLD with a flood, save for one family. He'll do worse in the end times when there will be giant hailstones and rivers of blood.

You should ask "why" we worship God, and you'll get a better perspective of who He is rather than just someone that kills.

Is that the same God that fantasizes about smashing babies against rocks and cutting unborn babies from their mother's wombs in Hosea 13:16?

Anthony B, so you're basically approving abortion as a preemptive measure to weed out undesirable elements from society?

Go 2 verses down and you will see why. That they not teach you their abominations. Those people were wicked.
Nice try.
Maybe you should look at the reasons before making any judgments.
