Of your Waco fundamentalist sister who walked out on educator Bill Nye (The Science Guy) because he dared to say that the moon did not have any light of its own, but was only reflecting light from the sun? As she walked out in a huff, she supposed said "We believe in GOD" to explain why she was so upset over Nye's statement.

Apparently, they took issue with the conflict between fact of the moon as a reflector of ligh and the biblical reference of the moon as "a lesser light to govern the darkness."

I'm a bit skeptical of that, especially since the Waco Tribune "mysteriously pulled the article from its online page" to hide its embarrassment...meaning, of course, that nobody can double-check the article to authenticate it. I suspect an urban legend in the making here.

The sad thing is that these people who insist on taking the Bible literally, do not take most of it literally. Otherwise, she would be stoning disobedient children and not speaking in church.

As a Christian, I have no problem whatsoever with acknowledging that the moon reflects light.....since it does. Whether it "reflects" light or glows from its own inner light, God still made it and that's the important point to me.

Some fundamentalists do not know what they talk about, they are like the peasants in the old country. What every the priest say is the truth instead of one man's opinion. To some we should not go into out space for it is against God's law. They say ignorance is bliss but for me it can get us killed.

of direction the ratio is skewed. And indexed under are incredibly some aspects. Christians in the rustic is what we are in a position to call a annoyed majority. they do no longer sense their values are meditated in maximum aspects of public existence, and sense that Yahoo! solutions grants a secure and handy approach to particular themselves. The heathens are observing television, the encouraged energetic Christians elect & have some form of interplay with others. pop custom itself is by no capability represenative of the 'actual' ratios of Christians to non-christians. television will throw a dufus in the blend and make contact with him a jesus-freak token. i've got additionally seen the encouraged aethiest / evolutionists right here lots too. Any comments approximately their possibilities??

Her problem is that she is taking the Bible quite literally.
As an Evangelical Christian, I understand the Bible often speaks figuratevly, metaphorically.
The bible is God's Word...that is, His Word as revealed through His prophets. But the interpretation of those words, and deciding what they mean, is our own.

I would worry evolution will take care of them soon enough...she probably also still believes that the sun revolves around the earth.

Such people have no business in science anyway...

Have you stopped beating your wife yet? Easy to accuse, via a mere question!
I'm not serious about that question.

I think your question is THAT kind of "mud slinging"! When you trow mud against a fence, some may stick!!!

You say "apparently" THEY... (you don't know them, or why Nye offended them)...my guess is the denial of God as Creator.

Why are you so afraid of the truth? I am serious about that question!

What has God done to deserve your bitter disrespect toward Christian believers?!?

The bible is not the cause of "Waccos"...that charge is a lie.

It is the Word of God that Christian fundamentalists are fundamental about.

"Fundamental" TRUTH is at issue.

I trust God! So sue me!!!

God's Word says "God is love". He loves even sinners, but He does NOT love their sinful ways. Jesus IS The Way!

The Word of God says LOVE...even your enemies! (hate hurts YOU too!)

The Word of God says forgive.

The Word of God states...
"Those you, who say, "Keep to yourself. Do not come near me, for I am holier than thou!" are smoke in My nostrils, a fire that burns all the day." (Isaiah 65: 5)

"He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly." Prov 14: 29

Those who let themselves be controlled by their lower natures live only to please themselves, but those who follow after the Holy Spirit find themselves doing those things that please God. ... because the old sinful nature within us is against God. It never did obey God's laws and it never will.
Romans 8: 5-7

God says, "I was very angry with them, for their hearts were always looking somewhere else instead of up to me, and they never found the paths I wanted them to follow."
Hebrews 3: 10

Any foolish (or crazy) person can claime God is the cause of their wacco behaviour...but walking out on a speaker is a right of any one, even a foolish (or crazy) person. Don't blame God's "fundamental" teachings!

Any foolish (or crazy) person can blame God for everything that tells them this earth is not heaven. Many fools charge God foolishly! Don't you be one of them!!!

The fool has said in his heart there is no god.

A "wacco" lady does not represent the all-knowing Creator.

Read the Word of God for yourself, and let the truth into your heart.

For God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never find God through human brilliance, and then he stepped in and saved all those who believed his message, which the world calls foolish and silly....This so-called`"foolish" plan of God is far wiser than the wisest plan of the wisest man, and God in his weakness--Christ dying on the cross--is far stronger than any man. 1 Corin 1:21,25

A life of bible study can't be expressed in this little space. I am a fundamental "back-to-the-WORD-of-God" Christian, in my intentions.

Bill Nye is wise, but God is omniscient. If you find me a "wacco" don't blame my Lord! I am a fundamentalist Bible believer, but not a wacco!!!
