I have obsessive compulsive disorder, and often get fired for checking things many times. what kind of job do you think is suitable for me? If you have obsessive compulsive disorder what your symptoms? what kind of job you have?

I have many different symptoms. I tends to keep on checking things over and over again. For example, I keep on checking the door lock and light switch over and over again to see if it locked properly, so that I get a right feeling that it closed properly.

Depends on your other symptoms. For instance, if you have a problem with germs or hand washing you may want to stay away from places that seem dirty to you. If I had to guess, I would say something where there are very strict rules and things are the same day to day. Someone with your symptoms would not like flexible or unclear rules. How about bookkeeping? Or office manager or CPA. File clerk comes to mind. There are many places where your "quirks" will be in demand. Which job depends on your education and experience level. You would do well to take a test like the Myers-Briggs type Indicator (available online or at colleges or from professionals). This can match your personality with jobs that fit your style. There are books written about this subject once you find your type.

Just remember that most jobs have to deal somewhat with people who are unpredictable and may have a hard time understanding the way you like things. Most OCD's need to be in control to manage their anxiety. Since it is anxiety based, see your doctor for some medication. Even something simple and cheap like Prozac does wonders. While it won't "cure" you, it can allow you to function better in a world that is highly unpredictable. By the way, you don't need to be cured, this is your personality just like any other type of personality and you should only change to make it easier on yourself.

How about in a factory where things have to be checked thoroughly for faults. Maybe a cleaning job perhaps where you could check and clean over and over again and that way they couldn't fault your work. Good luck in whatever you choose to do. It is quite a tricky question to answer.

You could clean houses! No, i'm jk. You could do whatever you want to do! Has it been diagnosed by a doctor? If someone fires you for that, that is called discrimination and you could do something about it.

Quality control supervisor? Seriously, if it's preventing you from holding down a job, you might be able to get on disability.
