Very few Biblical scholars believe Moses had anything to do with writing the Pentateuch. And since the book of Genesis includes events that supposedly happened centuries before his birth, Moses could only be writing recycled knowledge anyway. There's an excellent book that explores the authorship of the first 5 Old Testament books, among other things: "Moses, a Life" by Jonathan Kirsch.

In the NIV Bible (Zondervan) there is no mention of Joshua as a partial author of the Pentateuch. Moses is said to have written these books during the 40 year exodus.

Parallels are drawn between an Egyptian "Tale of Two Brothers" and the story of Joseph and his brothers, according to this introduction.

Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible, yes, but when the book of Dueteronomy was written, it was written by Joshua as well. You can get a Bible that has these facts in them. Go buy a Life Application Bible and see for yourself.

Editorial prerogative by later prophets/scribes. People need to realize that there is such a thing as the process of compilation in the Bible. Same goes for the Book of Mormon, by the way. Have a happy day, and I send you a gummy bear.

Moses wrote what was revealed to him by G-d, which means he knew when and how he would pass away, as he wrote it all down.
It IS a pretty nifty trick:)
