What are you talking about?

Prescription drugs (that are actually prescribed FOR YOU by a doctor to treat a specific medical condition)...those are ok.

Caffeine? Ok. Alcohol...eh, sorta ok if under control.

Illegal drugs? NOT OK to use.

And there is NOT a difference between a user and an addict. All users are addicts, or they wouldn't use!

Honestly, I am not being mean here, but what exactly is the question? Are we deciding if you are a drug user or addict? Whether I am? If there even is such a thing? Shouldn't there be an 'OR' instead of a 'AND' in your heading, at the very least, unless your asking if a person can be both a user and an addict.

And, speaking from experience here (don't roll your eyes....c'mon dude, be mature...lol) vikes and alcohol can be just as hard, if not harder, than other substances on your system. I'm not being the moral police, or anything, but that info could potentially cause harm to an idiot. Be careful, and be safe, whatever you do.

Well, "drug addict" says it all -- an addiction to a substance that can harm you. Addicts will do just about anything to feed their habit, it's a downward spiral bigtime for them. Drugs leave you as a victim and we hear all the time about deaths due to someone taking a harmful drug or another. I don't look down on anyone. I just feel so sad inside that normal, healthy people will actually be caught up in the net of addiction and destroy their health and their lives, whether young or old. That isn't why we are here on this earth.

An addict is anyone that has a drug of choice and abuses that drug. They can't stay away or control their use of that drug.

I am a recovering addict. I drool when I think someone has marijuana on them. I turn into a jerk when I drink alcohol and have no control over it.

Any user can turn into an addict. No addict can turn into a controlled user.

Preaching, Just ignore

It is best to get away from drugs altogether. They cause to many problems in your life. They cause legal problems. The government can put you in prison , fine you , even take away the property of whoever's place you are found possessing drugs in. They can cause many other problems and they do eventually lead to addiction and may lead to other drugs. You may not try them now , but using these drugs makes using other drugs seams all that much more right to some people.

This is a answer that only those who have done heavy duty drugs can answer. You will find yourself getting answers from hypocrites who say crystal meth is a no no but alcohol in mediation is ok. Weed is not harmless but PCP is against God's law.

I will tell you the truth, and if you have done the drugs that people hush hush about then you will now whether I tell you the truth or not.
First Jesus says, it is not what goes into you that defiles you, it is what comes out. Let's take the simplest of all: A beer. There are people who get hungry, red, itchy,or happy with a couple of beers. There are those that get annoying, melancholic , or Angy. There are those that beat up their wives, throw tantrums, start fights, or even insult others. If you are the first case, keep drinking and enjoy for Jesus himself liked food and drank wine and they called him a drunk and a glutton. But if you are the second and third case, than you are defiling yourself, so please get help or simply stop cold turkey.

As far as crystal meth (as example) if you use it to stay up late cause you can't get enough hours in a day and are not addicted, or to last longer with your mate, it's your deal. But if you turn into an obsessed addict than you are defiling yourself.

As a' Social Worker I must disagree. You are doing drugs? If you do them constantly and in a great amount you're a drug addict. Same is for alcohol or any other hard core drugs. Get help soon. Cause you have no clue what you doing to your body.

vikes are addictive... believe me- I've been there. Even worse is Oxycontin and Morphine tabs... Vicoden isn't that much different (and in fact was a really good substitute when I was not able to find anything else...). BTW- when it really boils down to it, its just like being a heroin addict (its been a few years since I did that one... not something I'm proud of)

While painkillers are incredibly fun- they are a bit dangerous. Yes I still use drugs- but I am not addicted to anything anymore- and haven't been (actively) for a LONG time (well... aside of cigarettes).

Alcohol is just gross- and yes that too is addictive...

Trust me, stick to the weed. It won't kill you like painkillers and it won't turn you into a slob like alcohol can.

I suppose it's okay for people who can handle it. But then you have the others, like me. I wish I had never touched my first drink. I'm at a time in my life right now where I don't think I should be drinking, yet I couldn't wait for the weekend to get here, so that I could just 'drink it all away'. Of course, that's just ********. It'll still be here Monday morning.

Denying you are an addict is the first sign of a problem. Posting the denial on Yahoo when no one cares or has asked you, is the second.

Making believe you are better than other addicts because you only use certain drugs is the third.

Fourth, there are only three reasons. And you, my friend, are an addict.

If you don't need it then why do you use it? I think you are kidding yourself when you say you aren't an addict. You may not be physically addicted to the drug or acohol, but if you use regularly, you ARE ADDICTED to escaping from life and reality through substance. You posted this in R&S so I assume you are trying to justify this to yourself spiritually... the path you have chosen is still part of a spiritual path, just a more difficult and treacherous one. You could save yourself alot of heartache by giving up the substances and search your own soul for why you are here and what you are meant to accomplish in this life. Peace to you.
