I have a 9 week old kitten who seems to have very dirty ears. When you look inside them it looks like there is dirt in them. Does anyone know what it could be? Thanks in advance

It could be ear mites. If there is any brown/black waxy/gritty material in the ears then this probably ear mites.

You could try cleaning your kittens ears and see if that helps. Simply take a small pad of cotton or cloth and lightly moisten it with olive oil. Insert the oiled cotton/cloth into the outer ear and use a gentle, twisting motion to clean. Don't try poking inside with your fingers or Q-tips as you could easily damage the kittens ear.

If it continues you may want to consult a vet to get some medication.

Baby most likely has ear mites. Ear mites can become very painful as they are a critter in your cats ears. With my little ones I clean their ears with soap and water on Cotton balls then put a couple of drops of mineral oil each day until the bugs are gone. I don't like to use over the counter meds on babies because they can be to strong for little ones.

It's probably ear mites. You need to get some ear cleaner at the pet store and clean them out and get some Revolution from the vet's to kill the mites. Don't delay. Ear mites can be serious if left untreated.

Yes, there are 3 things it can be: ear mites, which can be treated with selamectin (I don't know the brand name) spot on, a fungus called malasezia, which can be treated with Oridermyl, or natural ear wax, but usually when it is excessive like that it is combined to teh above. Clean the ears with a cotton (not Q tip) with Epiotic solution or olive oil, then apply Oridermyl or Dexoryl every day.

I would check into getting some miti-cide. Ear mites can cause permanent hearing damage if left untreated. Also, cats can shake their heads and 'wack' their ears on other objects trying to rid themselves of the itching. This can cause vessels to rupture in their ears which causes the ear to balloon with blood that needs to be drained by a vet and can require the insertion of stints to keep the ear open as it heals.

Sounds like ear mites, take him to the vet and get the ears cleaned out and the vet will give you medicine to put in his ears.

Sounds like earmites. You should have him/her checked for it at the vet, you can get the medicine at a pet store like Petland or PetSmart, but since it's so young you might want the vet to take a look anyway.
