I was curious on how long you must serve? Not that I don't mind serving for awhile. It is a career. But say if you enter an officer in one service for say 9 years; can you transfer over to another service as an officer? Thanks.

not necessarily. For one,the Navy will take VERY few PS Officers, and only if what they did translates directly to a Navy Designator that is undermanned. AF isn't taking any PS period, Officer or enlisted. the Branch you are in must agree to let you go, and the Branch you want to go to must agree to take you.

Each Designator/community incurs a different commitment, some as little as 3 years, others as long as ten. Each time you promote, you incur a certain obligation to serve at that paygrade x number of years before you can retire at that paygrade for pay purposes. If you are sent to NPS, you incur a 2 for one obligation: for every year you are at NPS, you must serve an additional 2 years in a 'payback' billet that directly uses what your Masters degree is in.

UHHHHHHHHH there is no clear answer on this, The armed Forces do not want you to Switch Branches, but it can be done. You need to make sure you are desiered by the Military still, just because they dont boot you out dont mean they want to keep you either, not everyone gets to re-enlist.
If you have had any Military issues Fined, drop in rank or rate?
Each case would be looked at and judge on its own merit.

Yes it can be done... how hard you wanna fight for it is another question.

3 years is the minimum time you can serve as an officer.

But it can be longer, it depends on just what your gonna do in the military and who paid for your college degree.

It is possible to change to a different service, but unlikely.

Generally, you would be way behind the curve knowledge wise if you switched services .
