4:110
Yet whoso doeth evil or wrongeth his own soul, then seeketh pardon of Allah, will find Allah Forgiving, Merciful.
39:153
Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
4:48
Lo! Allah forgiveth not that a partner should be ascribed unto Him.
4:116
Lo! Allah pardoneth not that partners should be ascribed unto Him.
4:137
Those who believe, then disbelieve and then (again) believe, then disbelieve, and then increase in disbelief, Allah will never pardon them.
4:168
Those who disbelieve and deal in wrong, Allah will never forgive them.
9:80
Ask forgiveness for them (O Muhammad), or ask not forgiveness for them; though thou ask forgiveness for them seventy times Allah will not forgive them. That is because they disbelieved in Allah and His messenger.
47:34
Those who disbelieve and turn from the way of Allah and then die disbelievers, Allah surely will not pardon them.
63:3-6
They believed, then disbelieved, therefore their hearts are sealed so that they understand not. ... Whether thou ask forgiveness for them or ask not forgiveness for them is all one for them; Allah will not forgive them.
llah (swt),who named Himself Ar-Rahman (The Beneficent) and Ar-Rahim (The Merciful) is also Al-Ghafoor (The Forgiving). His Mercy overtakes His punishment and anger. He is more merciful to His creations than a mother can be to her infants.
He created "man with weakness"; thus He knows and we should know that "to err is human," and "no one is perfect."
Iblis (Satan), the cursed one, out of envy to Adam, has promised to himself "to attack children of Adam on their way to their journey toward God, so that those who fall prey to his attack will also have the same fate as himself (I'll take you down with me!). So he says, "I'll attack men from the front, behind and sides." (7:17) This means he will disguise himself as our friend, as our opponent, and side distractions of the world. He will then make us do wrong by presenting evil as good (poison candy in a nice wrapper), making us angry, jealous, envious, just "follow-the-leader" type, and we wrong ourselves and fall prey to his temptation.
Iblis and his followers have a feast of joy and laugh at man's foolishness, until the man realizes his mistakes, repents and asks for forgiveness and he is forgiven, and then Iblis cries again.
Giving up Hope of the Mercy of Allah is a Crime in Itself
"Say: 'O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of God: for God forgives all sins (except shirk): for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.'" (39:53)
"And it is He who accepts repentance from His servants and pardons the evil deed and knows what you do." (42:25)
In order for forgiveness to be accepted, these conditions should be met: (1) The crime is committed out of ignorance, not with the intention that, "Let us go ahead and commit this crime as Allah is forgiving, so He will forgive us."; (2) quickly turn into shame and repentance after committing a crime out of ignorance; (3) After asking for forgiveness, make a promise or pledge to "mend his ways", and to stick to his promise. Let us examine verses of Quran.
"...if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented and amended (your conduct), lo! Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (6:54)
"Forgiveness is only incumbent on Allah towards those who do evil out of ignorance and then turn quickly (in repentance) to Allah. Toward them will Allah turn in mercy; for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom." (4:17)
"Forgiveness is not for those who do ill until death faces one of them, who then says, 'Lo! I repent now, nor for those who die as disbelievers, for such was have prepared a painful doom.'" (4:18)
IS ANY CRIME OR TOO MANY CRIMES TOO BIG TO BE FORGIVEN?
Let us examine two Hadith.
1) Hadith Qudsi:
Allah, the Almighty, has said: O Son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O Son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O Son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins as great as the earth, and were you then to face Me ascribing no partners to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.
2) Prophet (SW) has said:
A certain person had committed 99 murders. He went to a scholar and asked, is there any chance of my being forgiven? The scholar said no, you have committed too many crimes. The man killed the scholar too, but his heart was restless, so he went to another scholar and asked the same question. He was told yes, but you must leave this town of bad people and go live in the next town in the company of good people.
So the man set out to the town he was told to go to. On the way he died. A man passing by saw two angels arguing over his dead body. The Angel from Hell said, 'His body belongs to me as he had not done any good in his life.' The Angel from Heaven said, 'His body belongs to me as he had repented and was set out to be with good people.' The man who was the passer-by said, 'Let us measure the distance of his body from the town he left and the town he was going to.'
This was done. He was found to be nearer to the town he was going to. In another version, the earth was ordered by Allah to shrink and make the distance smaller, so that he was admitted to Heaven.
How does Allah forgive us?
When we commit a sin, four (4) witnesses are established against us.
a) The place we did the crime (i.e., scene of the murder).
"On that day, the earth will reveal all its secrets." (99:4)
b) The organ we used to commit the crime.
"When their ears, their eyes, their skin will testify against them." (41:21)
"That day we seal up mouths, and hands speak out and feet bear witness to all that they did." (36:65)
c) The Angels who record the deeds (Kiraman Katebeen).
"The honored writers know what you do." (82:11)
d) "We record that which they send before them, and their footprints,
and all things we have kept in a clear register." (36:12)
Now, with four such strong witnesses, how can we present ourselves to Allah? So He (the Al-Wakeel--the Defender), like a smart lawyer, removes all the witnesses against those whose repentance has been accepted, so that we present ourselves with a clean record. Case dissolved due to lack of witnesses.
Hadith is like this. "When Allah accepts repentance and forgives His servant, then recording angels erase their records, organs lose their memories, and earth removes its stains of evidence so that when that person appears before Allah, there is no one to be a witness against him. Subhan Allah.
How to Ask for Forgiveness
When Adam and Eve realized they had done wrong but did not know how to ask for forgiveness:
Then learnt Adam from his Lord words of forgiveness, and his Lord turned toward him, for He is Oft-Forgiving and Most Merciful. (2:37)
What were those words taught to Adam?
They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged our souls and if you forgive us not, and bestow not upon us your mercy, we shall be losers. (7:23)
How did the Prophet Muhammad (AS) teach Aisha (RA) to ask for forgiveness in Ramadan?
O my Lord, forgive me, because you love to forgive, thus forgive me, O you Merciful!
Remember, asking for forgiveness is not just for our sins, but also for our needs as well.
And I have said! Seek forgiveness from your Lord. Lo! He is oft-forgiving (if you ask for forgiveness). He will give you plenty of rain, He will give you wealth and sons, and assign you Heaven and Rivers in the Heaven. (Surah Nuh:10-12)
Thus after repenting and asking for forgiveness, we must mend our ways and not go back to Kufr and fall prey to the tactics of Satan (Iblis) again. While we expect Allah to be kind and merciful and forgive our major and minor sins, we are unforgiving towards our fellow human beings!

Allah might be testing you that for you which is more important, Allah's satisfaction or the fun of the world? You are trying your best not to think about these, after always trying your best to stay away from these thoughts, if they still come than where is your fault in it?Allah is never unfair with anyone, then why should he punish you? Thats unfair. Allah loves his believers.
These thoughts also invade my mind sometimes, just like every other human, our faith goes up and down, just keep trying your best to please Allah.
Take care.

Check your intention first - Do you have an intention to do something bad or something good?
A very good thing that worked for me to rid my mind of bad thoughts was to volunteer at a food shelter to feed the poor and hungry. The kindness in you will overwrite all these negative thoughts. And the poor and destitute will surely bring out the kindness in you.
Make lots of dua (for me as well)

PS: just to let some answerers know, Allah=God in Islam.
Allah is an arabic word meaning God.
we use the word Allah because that's how it is mentioned in the Quran. There's no God but Allah
which means God=Allah
not a statue.
not a human being.
he's up there(in the heavens)
he has no sons,he's the only God.
he's GOD.
another PS:
Angel of death
I hope God won't send the REAL angel of Death to take your soul tonight because MAN! if he does you'll be burnning in eternal hell...ewww,that hurts!!!!
if you hate muslims just stop answering their questions and getting points from that,
we're not hurting you.
go find a life.

Allah is the most Gracious most merciful....don't worry.
We all have same bad thoughts, it is mentioned in hadith that everyone when he need to make a decision he receives a devilish idea from Shaitan, and a good idea from Angels, after that he can decide.

Our thoughts run out of control if we harbor unforgiveness.
As a Christian, I have just went through a difficult 2 weeks. As my blood pressure went sky high & a blind spot in my right eye. And a girl took my car & wrecked it. The insurance wouldn't cover it unless I filed theft charges. She took the car without permission. This happened while I had the other health issues.
So? I got to the bottom of everything by asking questions & the negativity of some of the insurance groups, etc. didn't help my blood pressure. In the hospital twice for it.
So? My mind rehearsed the attitude of the insurance angents, doctor comments, my sons comments, the 16yr old girl without a license & mother of baby who took my car without permission, my sister in law about the phone, the fact that I paid the $5,500 by credit card & sowed some mercy as obedient to Jesus Christ helped. But then, my credit card had just come down with much effort. Now it went right back up.
The other night, I slept & the conversations prevailed. I tell Jesus in prayer that I don't want to think of it. Why do I keep rehersing this. So? The verse to give my cares to the Lord. So, I did. Then the rehersing stopped for the one situation. But then another one snuck in my mind & rehersed, then I recognized it & gave it to the Lord, then this repeated until I clearly gave all the unsettling concerns completely to the Lord. Now the Lord asks if I feel better now. So, then I fell asleep. I haven't been rehersing it anymore. Though family members are mad that I am not pressing charges.
This is a 16 yr old single mom who can't pay for it anyway. Lives on her own. Jesus brought 2 verses to mind. Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy. And in the Lords prayer... forgive me my debts as I forgive those who owe me... So? I have to obey God. And sow $5,500 of mercy.
So? If I didn't give this difficult mental time to Jesus, then I would still be struggling mentally & wouldn't heal like I should.
So, I suggest that you call on the Name of the Lord. Whosoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved. Jesus told us to cast all our cares on Him for He cares for us.
The wages of sin is death. So when we sin, because the devil tempts our minds & flesh to sin, our payment is death. Basically everyone dies. Some earlier than others.
So? Jesus paid the price for our sins. So, when we receive His forgiveness, & he will forgive, because He atoned for our sins, we will be saved. And that is also eternal life with the spiritual birth, & also saves us daily from emotional & mental troubles & making wrong decisions. He is a light unto our path. So we renew our mind in the Word of God to replace the devils lies.
See? The devils lies are what is tormenting you. There is no salvation except through faith in Jesus. The truth does set us free.
As a Christian & the devil tempts with an evil thought; I submit to God, resist satan & satan flees. Submitting to God is to pray, give attention to God, claim Gods truth from the Holy Bible (scripture promises) to overcome the lie of the devil. You can get a bible promise book & it will help you much. Never say out loud the devil tempts. Say outloud the victory over the lie. The Positive truth. Say Gods promises. When the devil sees us submit to God, the devil flees because the devil gets scared.

Evil thoughts are part and parcel of every human being because Al mighty Allah the lord of the worlds has put both evil and good in us and the life of this world is just a test as to who believes in Allah and uses his/her free will according to how Allah wants from us. Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him said that "Allah has forgiven all evil thoughts that come to our mind as long as we do not act upon it or utter it ". Hence evil and bad thoughts are forgiven in advance as long as we do not act upon it or utter it.

There are thoughts and actions. You're ahead of the game in that you realize that, to actualize you thoughts would not be a good thing. Do your best to keep those thoughts where they belong....only in the realm of the mind.

wa lakum salaam.
When I go through that (it's happen to me a few times), I seek refuge with Allah by reciting the last three surahs.
Also, the thought is known to Allah (SWT), but until you act on that thought, it doesn't exist as a sin (whatever it is you're doing in your dream). Allah (SWT) knows best.
Hope this helped.
