Some sins are not only sins punishable by God but are also punishable by law.
As with speeding in a work / construction zone you may have double fines, some sins carry the same "double fines." For instance, sexual sin. God will forgive you for having sex outside of marriage. If you will ask for forgiveness and repent (turn away from your sin.) However, the second fine could be a S.T.D. or even pregnancy. There are consequences for our behavior.
Jesus will forgive you if you ask, however, there are still consequences for what you have done and therefore, you must "pay" society what is owed.
See below...
We are told in Romans 13
Christians Should Obey the Law
1 All of you must yield to the government rulers. No one rules unless God has given him the power to rule, and no one rules now without that power from God.2 So those who are against the government are really against what God has commanded. And they will bring punishment on themselves.3 Those who do right do not have to fear the rulers; only those who do wrong fear them. Do you want to be unafraid of the rulers? Then do what is right, and they will praise you.4 The ruler is God's servant to help you. But if you do wrong, then be afraid. He has the power to punish; he is God's servant to punish those who do wrong.5 So you must yield to the government, not only because you might be punished, but because you know it is right.
6 This is also why you pay taxes. Rulers are working for God and give their time to their work.7 Pay everyone, then, what you owe. If you owe any kind of tax, pay it. Show respect and honor to them all.
I hope this helps!
Grace to you.

Christ paid for your sins yes. But, there are consequences that the world has when you commit a crime..This is the world system. Jesus was asked a question...are you the king of the Jews? and Jesus answered yes I am. In those times the result of this was execution, the type of execution was being nailed to a cross.
So, if you do something that is a crime, and get caught, the world will prosecute you.
best wishes

I spent 37 years in the administration of justice system and I think I can answer that question for you. If you believe that Christ died for your sins then bully for you. I'm glad that you have been saved. However your transgression was also against mankind and mankind wants his pound of flesh called justice.
While I would never doubt someones confession of faith...I have found all to often that jail house conversions just appear to be very timely to dire circumstances in which the accused find themselves before a judge (man made in a black robe).

For those who are seriously curious,
Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins SO THAT we would have a way to be reconciled to God. It was for our eternal salvation that Jesus died.
There are many examples in the Bible of people receiving forgiveness, but still having the consequences for their actions to live with. King David for example was still considered a man after God's own heart, but he did have a heavy price to pay as a result of his sin.
Think big, man, we're talking about eternity, not the small amount of time that we are alive in this place.
For those reading this who want to know more about this, read and study the Bible. Email me if you want help with Bible study.

Jesus paid the eternal price for your sin(s).
The one repentant thief on the cross next to Jesus' was promised that he would be with Jesus in paradise that same day.
What Jesus didn't mention to him was this:
And to get to paradise, you must still pay the corporal price for your sins, and the Roman Soldiers will come and break your legs to hasten your death..
God established human government in Genesis 9.
By breaking the laws of your government, you rebel against
God and man both.
Use your prison time to read and study God's Word. Take the time to get to know the One who saved you from the lake of fire.

Sin happens first in the mind. If you bring it out into the world it becomes a crime. So up the river you go! Next time let it pass through the mind and you will be spared because of what He did.

The spiritual price has been payed, but there is still a physical
price to pay.
King David (for example) committed adultery with Bathsheba and killed her husband. After some time, David did repent and God forgave him, but there were repercussions. The child died, one of his sons raped one of his daughters, another son killed that son, another son than takes the throne.
There are laws in a Christian country and these laws must be followed they are no longer laws.

Yep, Christ paid the price, and apparently you didn't accept Him before you commited a crime. Now YOU have to pay the price.

He died for Paul's sins, too. Paul sat in prison for the sake of Christ's gospel, and sang His praises.
I doubt that if you are headed for prison, that it is for spreading the gospel of Christ. If you wronged society, then go pay your debt to society. If you wronged God, then Christ DID pay that price for you. You need only to stop serving yourself, and serve Him.
