It usually takes me 1 hour of walking or doing something else before I can run with out the side pain. Why??

Its the way you internal organs are bouncing against each other and your lungs. Try changing your breathing pattern, in for 3 steps out for 4, which should help things 'bounce' together. The other thing you need to do is to push through the pain. A side stitch won't hurt you, keep going and they will stop happening as much.

The side pain can actually be from not breathing properly while running or jogging. Are you breathing deeply and not panting and also are you inhaling through the nose and letting it out of the mouth? Some times if you count 1 2 3 4 5 as you breath in and then do 5 4 3 2 1 as you exhale you can learn to control your breathing. Once you do that for awhile it will be automatic after awhile and you can stop the counting part. I'm guessing that could be your problem. That happened to me when i started jogging at first. Now I don't have that anymore since I breath right. Also make sure you are not exercising on a full stomach. Don't jog within a full hour after you eat because that can cause some very bad pains too and nausea as well.

How long have ouy been running? I was kind of like that when I started cross country last year but after I got in a routine the pains started to go away. I think it has to do with your breathing. Take deep breaths when you run - like inhale for 4 steps and exhale for 4 steps and so on.

Because you need to do proper stretches before exercising.
