I doubt this applies to very many people, but my cat used to like it when my dog ( who was then an eight week old puppy and the same size as her) would play chase with her. She and my male cat do it all the time.

Now that my dog has like thirty pounds on little Keira, she doesn't like it as much, but I swear she still eggs it on some times.

But most dogs just like chasing anything that will run. Be it cats, birds, squirrels and so on.

Because they usually run from them. A dogs natural instinct is to chase something that runs from them. I've had cats and dogs living together for years without a serious problem.

Dogs will chase nearly anything that moves . . . it just depends on the dog. Cats, rabbits, ducks, squirrels, birds, cars, bicycles, people are all commonly chased by dogs. Occasionally you'll see a cat chase a dog . . . that usually indicates one ticked off kitty.

Because they run from them.
Most animals are predators by nature and will chase what runs. This why I "Never" run from a growling dog and stand my ground. The other night on Animal Planet they finally figured out that Cougar attacks are usually on Children and people that look like they running away. Wow, they smart people, I learned that when I was 8 years old.

Because the cas run. If they don't run they don't get chased. I have cats that stand on their own and usually can get along with dogs.
