Ignore Waltzing Matilda, that is a totally stupid response. Tasmania is a truly beautiful state and would be a romantic honeymoon destination. Coles Bay/Freycinet/Wine Glass Bay is particularly beautiful and would make for a lovely honeymoon. I have stayed at the Freycinet Lodge and I would recommend it. One thing I should mention is they have no tv's in the rooms, important to some ppl. The wine glass bay walk only takes about 1and a half hours and is well worth the effort.

Hi
Hire a car and check out some of the romantic bed and breakfast places down here - I think you can even buy a booklet of pre-paid vouchers for B and B's from Tourism Tasmania ahead of time so you could keep an eye on your expenditure - although you would need to book most places prior to your arrival as during the summer time and over holiday periods the popular ones can sell out.
Car hire will be about $50 per day for a smaller manual car for 7 days and expect to pay around $90 -$120/night for a good B and B which would include breakfast.

Here's a few suggestions, depending on your preferred style:
Coastal - Freycinet Peninsula
Forest - Cradle Mountain, try Lemonthyme Lodge
History - Bed & Breakfast in Battery Point, Hobart, with day trips to Richmond, Port Arthur etc.

Hobart is a lovely city and Tasmania is a small, beautiful State. Hire a car and take trips out of Hobart to the many places of interest. It is only about two hours from Hobart to Launceston. If you are going to the west coast and Strachan, you will need to stay overnight but there are plenty of pubs and motels.
If you want to be self contained, hire a camper van.

I haven't been yet (holiday planned for this Nov) but I have friends who went to Cradle Mountain. The place they stayed was like little wood cabins in the forest. It was so secluded and romantic. They spent about a week, and did the bush walks and picnics and stuff there. The photos were gorgeous, and they had a fantastic time.

Never had a honey moon in Tasmania but took my sister in-law there for a week and saw nothing so what make you think you will see the sites when on your honey moon.
