Darlin, like you, I have love in my heart, love, empathy, kindness all the things attributed to being a Christian, but I am pagan and supposedly, according to certain Christians it means I am supposed to be evil or something.

Try not to judge yourself according to other people's religous standards.

Know yourself. Do good. Live well with your fellowman.

If God wants to let Himself/Herself be known to you, it will happen. Until it does, there really is nothing you can do but live the best life you know.

There is a joke I heard once. A man was standing outside a really fancy church. He was really poor, homeless and wearing ragged clothes. No one wanted him inside the church and he was really hurt because he wanted to find God. So he cried out to God outside the church,

"God, they won't let me into their church"

and to his great surprise, God answered and said,

"I feel for you kid. They won't let me in either."

What came first in my life was a divine revelation that was perfectly in accordance with the experiences of thousands, nay millions, of Christians, including the men of the Bible who cannot be proven to be men of deceit, that's just your opinion. You may be a very nice person but it's totally beside the point, we need God for forgiveness of our sins, not to make us into nice people. We hope that we will become better people, by getting to know God, but not all Christians have moved forward in their knowledge of God, which is why some seem kinder than others. I didn't grow up with any belief system, unless you count the post modern view of anything goes, and religion plays no part in my life, you have confused the issue here. Religion is what Jesus came to get rid of, the pointless laws and rituals that the Pharisees had built up around the faith. Faith, and a relationship with Jesus, is what lies at the heart of christianity.

I was raised a Christian so I will probably always call myself a Christian, but I know longer believe in religion. Religion's try to control people and I don't want to be controlled anymore. I have a hard time believing there is no God. I don't want to believe that we are here for no reason other than some ameoba crawled out of the water and changed. I have found God more in the every day things of life now than I ever have being controlled by a religion. I believe that God is really not so much an all powerful being, but that each and everyone of us is apart of God and there is God in each of us. That we are the creators of our destiny.

Men created god to commit men's behaviour. The rules were religious of different kinds. If god created us, who will creat god? This will be a none stop question asking for the original. Let's cut out the circle one piece, one side is future, the other side is past. See what cause the future and see what is going to past. What is concept of times? spaces? We are seeing object moving, being move cause us have time concept. after moved, there is space concept. Such as sun moveing from one end to and other, we name it east is the rising sun space, the sunset is called west. We pick up a teapot to fill a cup of coffee. Picking up is the beginning, fill full a cup of coffee is the ending. We did not see the coffee had been drunk. It does not mean the coffee will not have one to drunk.
Our life time is limited. If we cannot see the coffee drunk, we cannot say the coffee will not be drunk. That is the karmas functioning. You have the motivation to fill the cup of coffee, we will drink it later, no matter you can drink or not. Whatever we did this time, the next time will be. These are all our willing , or karma functioning the result. Usually we are not clearly know what we are doing. See how suborn we are, and see how clever we are.

God has always been in my life, but the question is when I chose to acknowlege it. For He is a soveriegn, omnipresent God. I've had religion since I was little and was still left wanting, it did nothing for me, was left empty and unfilled. On my journey through this earthly life I've been through many denominations and realized that religion is man's way to get to God. He desires not religion & rituals but a relationship. And once I came to the end of myself and reached out, He was ready and waiting, and I'll never turn back. The question why do we need God is simply this-if you are completely satisfied with your life, money, home, fun time etc. and are never wondering what more is there, then you won't see a need for God, yet. For we were created(your choice to belive or not) with an empty place that only our creator God could fill, and humanity goes through life trying to fill that place with everything from alcohol, drugs, things pleasing to our flesh, and yes, even religion. Love the world offers is conditional but when you've found a love that loves you at your worst and filthiest possible moment, it floods your soul with joy. For we are not only flesh, we are body, soul and spirit. It's all about love and the search for pure love-a need which is temporarily and conditionally met from humanity. There are lots of gods but there is only one true God, who can't be put in a box of our finite minds, and He is love.Bless you, and I hope I answered your question.

As salaamu 'alaikym, my freind.

Insha'Allaha, Christianity is not the only religion. Some of us here might even go so far as to say it is not the True Religion of the One God, but such is a personal opinion.

Insha'Allah, for one to find his or her faith, that individual must be open to the same actually happening.

Insha'Allah, I need God because I realize that neither nor any created being represents the end and be all of all existence. I need God because everything I see tells me that God exist and calls my very being to worship the Creator of all things.

Ash hadu an laa ilaha ill-Allaah, wahdau la sharika lah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa Rasuluh.
I bear witness that there is no god except Allah and that allah, Subhanna wa Ta'ala has no equals, associates, partners or children and He and He alone is God. I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be uopn him) is His slave and His messenger.

Ma'a salaam.

I was 8 years old when I became a Christian, during the church service a voice in my heart started telling me I needed to be saved. God found me, I still don't like the word religious today. Jesus today guides me and protects me. I owe everything I got to him, I am one blessed man. Now obvious to me that just by asking this question you are seeking right. When you get saved the seeking is over. I have found all I could ever want. Now Christians still have to battle everyday problems but we have a peace inside, I sleep good at night. I don't hold grudges, I don't hate anybody, these all things the Lord as helped me overcome. Another one is being content, I don't need a million dollars, I am content with what I have. The Lord has provided. Of course the main thing with the Lord though is the Bible says that if you don't believe in Jesus you can't go to Heaven, Do you believe in the afterlife, Does your soul live forever, if you believe it does, then you got a decision to make, To believe or not. I know Jesus died on the cross for you and me, if you believe that, if your heart is telling you that is true then say this Prayer and get saved. Dear Jesus, I believe you are the son of God, I believe you came to earth to die on a cross for me to be a perfect sacrifice for my sins and rose from the grave the third day, I know and confess that I am a sinner in need of your salvation. I ask you to come into my heart now and save me, in Jesus name I Pray, Amen... If you just Prayed that Pray with a sincere heart you are now saved and Jesus lives inside your heart. Find a church, get you a Bible and start reading. Its a wonderfull world being a born again Christian. If you have questions please feel free to send me an email. Good luck to you and God Bless YOU!!

God came first.

Because God is the religion. All the things you mention have focus on God through the bible and his teaching.

Found God and turned to religion. I was a deout athiest before i found religion saying that God was for those that had no self belief....how things change.

The reason I need God is that the things I believe naturally point God. One God focused I then read the Bible and Quoran....Christianity won through due to Jesus Christ.

I don't need religion to be close to God. Just being spiritual will get you close to Him. Denominations never played a factor in anything. Jesus was a Jew and I don't believe his religion determined anything when it came down to it. Just that you believe God is God and follow His word and way of life. Then again religion does seem to control people especially when it comes to morals and ethics and what is right or wrong. Religion also gives you a purpose in life while many scientists would believe that there is no God and we have no purpose. They seem to be against their own findings.

"The medical scientists have studied each and every part of the human body. They now know the whole organization of the body, from its smallest parts to the largest ones. On the basis of these studies they say that the human body is made up of trillions of cells. These cells are of many kinds such as blood cells, muscle cells, and nerve cells. Each kind of cell has special features and some particular job. Then there are special highly sophisticated organs such as heart, kidney, lungs, liver etc. All these organs have special functions and well defined purpose of their being. A question should be asked to these medical researchers who themselves have disclosed these facts.

That if every cell and every organ in the human body has special work to do, then what is the special work of the whole human body. Is it wise to assume that, all cells of the body and the organs, have a purpose and a job, but the human beings who are made up of these cells and organs have no well defined purpose. Thus, a man of average intelligence will agree that when every organ of the body has been given a special assignment, then humans must also have a special purpose of life."

That is kind of like asking "if I love numbers which do I need math?"

Religion is nothing but an attempt to formally answers the questions that people have about God and how to relate to him. Like "math" is a formal way of presenting numbers and how to use them.

Any person who blieves in God will automatically have a "religion". It may not be a very well defined one, about like a second grader's understanding of numbers. It probably will not be able to answer any serious questions or have much practical application - but it will be a "religion".

Those who are raised around a religion would have a foundation to help them to understand God easier, just as a child raised around math would be more likely to understand numbers. But most people do not put much effort into "religion" until they have first meet God. Just as most students do not put much effort into math until they understand the value of numbers.

Glad to hear that you have love, empathy and kindness. All good things to have, and all things that Christians strive to develop. But none of those things are what make a person a Christian. It is having a relationship with God that makes them a Christian. Kind of like you can be as smart and as successful as Bill Gates, but unless you have a relationship with him, you won't get any of his money. You can be kind and loving, but if you do not have a relationship with God, you get none of the benefits (like heaven).
