How could the story of the ant and the grasshopper possibly have an applicable meaning?

The ant had a whole dang colony helping him! Poor little grasshopper.

Most fables really don't make much sense. Kind of reminds me of most of the stories in the old testament. A ton of hebrews go in and slaughter a handful of villagers, steal their property, rape their wives and daughters, sell their sons into slavery (unless they slaughter them too) and it is perfectly ok because their "god" was "with them". Nothing like the immoral majority being patted on the back (by themselves) for outdoing the lone free thinker. By the way, I like to burn ant colonies.
