I think that the only people who get upset when the term "Back Yard Breeder" is used ARE in fact Back Yard Breeders...plain and simple. Responsible breeders are generally more than happy to answer any and all breeding questions with sound advice and reccomendations.

Years ago there was a pastor in my community who said "I'm going to save your souls if it kills you!"
That kind of approach won't save souls - or save puppies/kitties.
Please remember, this is a question/answer forum. People ask questions because they want to know something. If a member asks what one would consider a "no-brain-er" question about breeding (as in how long is gestation etc.) then it's obvious they are not knowledgeable enough to be responsible breeders.
Still, to their credit - they ARE ASKING QUESTIONS - expecting reasonable, civil answers.
It is hoped, by this member at least - that we more experienced dog fanciers etc. can guide others to make wise, intelligent and informed decisions regarding breeding - or husbandry in general, in a civil, direct (sometimes extremely direct) way so as to educate and inform people.
Our position, as we see it, is NOT to preach or manipulate people - but to educate them and hope they have both the intelligence and courage to do right by their dogs.

I do not breed dogs - nor would I ever ... I love my dog as I have loved all of my past dogs. I make sure she is happy and safe, well fed and visits the vets regularly.....
I just want all dogs and cats to be in a loving home - Some day I hope that it will come true....

You know I have to agree with you. I'm a dog trainer and too many times I've dealt with uptight, know-it-all breeders that are either mills or are "too good" to get their shots. I always hear "Well MY puppies are perfect, they don't need their shots or to be dewormed." Bull crap. A dog is a dog, and I always tell my clients that are looking for another dog to save a life from a shelter, because a shelter dog can be just as cute and healthy as a purebred. Amen to that sister!

the clarification that they do no longer take place is because of the fact they actually can no longer answer those questions! they don't be attentive to what they're doing while it includes breeding, and that they don't be attentive to what to do with a sick ***** or muddle. i replaced into on the telephone the day previous with a breeder and we've been speaking approximately colour and coat genetics. i will rattle the possiblities off my head particularly without postpone, he finally informed me that I used to confuse the hell out of him years in the past while we spoke and that he's happy that I even have been there for him over the years. LOL I also have a puppy that purely died the different day while she replaced into 3 days old. i ought to of published a question at right here attempting to work out what those human beings might answer on her. The situation is , the puppy is from a genuine American instruct breeding. She replaced into born, weighed extremely under one million pound, stable weight at delivery. mom chewed the umbilical twine off on the tummy as a result I had to place one million suture in her abdomen at delivery so the intestines did no longer pop out. She replaced into sturdy at delivery. She had a brilliant swollen abdomen precise from delivery. What replaced into incorrect along with her? nicely, I had the prognosis concept from the 1st time I observed her. She lived for 3 days, while the vet opened her up my prognosis replaced into precise. We pulled the intestines out to seem them over and hint with the aid of them. abdomen replaced into ordinary, duodenum replaced into enlarged, then the small gut looked like a swollen sausage! We traced down greater to discover a classic finding super gut. She had an gut that had no longer thoroughly shaped at the same time. It replaced into disconnected. Do you think of that those breeder decide for a be's ought to of spoke back that one??? Hell no!! those human beings truly need to discover a mentor in the event that they actually need to reproduce and breed precise, yet they on no account will. I had somebody that had seen my woman on a similar time as she replaced into nonetheless pregnant and asked if her doggies could be greater fee-effective because of the fact she has an unpleasant head. He replaced into truly very much shocked when I informed him no!! She has one ear down and one ear up, so he replaced into optimistic that her doggies could be that way. Even when I informed him that the clarification her ear is down is from having a hematoma interior the ear earlier, and that it had no longer something to do with genetics.
