what god lets one of their flock suffer a painful death?

i'm guessing i'll hear:
god had another purpose for her.
she did something bad.

i want to hear something that shakes faith!

Not even god could tolerate that makeup.

The righteous often suffer in this world so that they are spared suffering (cleansing) in the next. This isn't to say that Tammy Faye was righteous, however, on balance, I believe she brought far more good into this world than evil.

One must remember a key point about salvation. Salvation does not occur in this, the physical world, but in the spiritual world.

I saw her on Larry King . . . she looked rather sick and bad.

And yet, I don't remember hearing her complain, or doubt, or question. She didn't seem to be "Suffering," she seemed happy.

She didn't need to try to get money out of people, she didn't have anything to gain or to sell by going on tv, at all, and yet, there she was praising God and talking about how happy she was.

You don't appear to believe in God, and you offer questions on her behalf that she herself didn't voice.

She could have complained, denied God, been bitter or talked about how uncomfortable she was, but she simply said how happy she was and how much she loved God.

As bad off as she was, a week from death, and she was still happy and praising the God she loved. In your bias, you can't hear what she was saying, and won't understand the sort of peaceful and reassuring love she felt from God, and so you ask questions that she didn't ask.

How are you not even curious about how she could have faced certain death so cheerfully?

Godspeed.

Okay, here's the REAL DEAL.
There is NO guarantee anywhere in the Bible that says a believer will be spared from sickness, disease, a painful death.
Certain ones in the body of believers, usually the pentecostal types, will argue against the statement I just made.
Consider the Apostles and Disciples...many died horribly. Some were sick. We are human, and these things happen.

On that basis, I'll assume you don't accept that Jesus was approved by God.
You see, he suffered a painful death.
As it is, dear Tammy knew nothing about God.
She didn't know His name.
She didn't know His purposes.
She did't know His personnality.
What she knew was her husband was making money from 'religion'.
BTW If we are meant to go to heaven and heaven is a wonderful place, why would anyone want God to save Tammy?
She was off to a better place ....wasn't she?
Dear Brassmunkiee:
You have made the elementary mistake of thinking christendom is Christianity.
Not!

What makes you think that you know what God did? It is appointed unto men to die once, after that, the judgement. You think as a man thinks. The ways of men are not the ways of God. What is more merciful? Allowing a sinner to get killed instantly in, let's say, an automobile accident, where that person gets no more chances to repent, and get right with God, or a slow, debilitating thing that makes that person reflect on things that they have done in the past, allowing them the time to repent truly in their hearts, and make things right between themselves and God? It is through adversity and tribulations that we are led to depend on and trust in God.

Tammy Faye seemed at peace with what was happening, and felt sure that she was right with God. So, as I said, what makes you think that you know what God did, and that He didn't save her?

God did save Tammy Fay, I believe she is in heaven now. It is appointed unto man once to die and then the judgment.

In my way of thinking, Tammy Faye was such a blessing to many people ,me included, that God used her illness to give peace to those who are suffering the same way . She took it with such peacefullness that only God can give.

Her mission/goal here on earth was accomplished. She went through trial & error but remained focused on GOD and beat all odds & redeemed herself all at one time. How many people you know leave GOD behind commit every evil in the book & never return to GOD?

He did.

It's not about saving your body - it's about saving your soul.

Sorry - I don't like any of the standard answers you were waiting for.

Again - He did. May not "shake the faith" - may "shake the unfaithful" - or not. It's really a personal choice.

pst: two parts: "their part" & "your part".
playing "their part" also has "their end".
tammy chose saved + destroyed after,
rather than saved(only) by grace(only);
Jude 1:5 rather than Revelation 22:21.

No matter, when ended proper, none perish.
"your part" is endure to "the end": Rev 22:21,
so even $illy tammy does not perish for ever.

The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
