Body art goes way back into the very early stages of man. Even the first dynasties of Egypt had some types of body art and the African jungle tibes were full of it way back when the first white men went into the Afrigan jungles. Civilized man was normally above that sort of thing but as with any culture, people want to be different than their parents were and different than their piers so one thing leads to another. Scripture talks against those types of things but most Christians do not view the entire Bible and lots of those things aren't talked about as 'sin' in the churches. Obesity is also a sin and being overweight means that you have to be eating into access to get too fat for your britches but no church I have ever attended has talked about the sin of obesity or gluttony. There is a balance to nature and there is a balance to living. Sometimes we overdo and the balance goes out of whack. Take makeup. A little bit can enhance the features of a woman and she can really look pretty but too much makeup and she looks like a painted doll or a hussy. The same is true with any form of art, even the painted kind on canvas and the sculptured kind as well. There is a place where just the right amount is fine and can really make a person feel good about themselves and it looks ok and then there is the place where it become an addiction and then is out of control. For example, my sister in law has a really feminine tatoo on her wrist that actually looks like she is wearing a bracelet. That is the only place she has it. It looks fine because it is narrow and dainty looking. But if a person tatoos their entire body, then they only look grotesque and ugly and no one thinks it looks good. Another example is an ivy plant. When it grows in the proper place and keeps within its limits, they can really beautify a garden but if you let it get out of hand, it will eventually take over the entire garden and you won't be able to see anything but this ugly plant choaking everything else. There is a proper proportion to everything and everything has the perfect balance, kind of like the PH balance in a fish tank. Algae is good for the tank and a bit of it makes a neat scene and is good for the fish. Too much and the fish get sick and the tank smells and looks horrible. People, teens or adults that use body art to enhance themselves also need to use discresion and wisdom when doing so. Too much of any one thing is always harmful in the end and a lot of it is irreversable. Like they say, "If you are not an alchoholic, then you can stop just after you have had one social drink. When it goes beyond that, you are on the road to alcoholism." The same is true with tatoos, jewelry, food, video and computer games, drinks of any kind, etc. etc.

relies upon on the PIERCING! & the tattoo... I even have many piercings and a tattoo. None of them harm too plenty that i might say the soreness isn't well worth it. nonetheless i'm very skeptical approximately getting my nipples accomplished, because of the fact i understand they are going to harm like hell! In all honesty, the healing is what's the worst with piercings, not the fairly piercing. working example, once I have been given my tongue pierced i could not consume or communicate usually for some days. And so a procedures as tattoos flow, the worst section is attempting to sit down down completely nonetheless whilst your organic reaction is to recoil slightly. The slightest stream is a brilliant deal, yet its not something that should deter you no count if that's something you opt for for!

I believe it is because of some conscious or unconscious need for attention. The reason I am sure of this is next time you see a person who has a tattoo or body piercing say to them Wow! THAT LOOKS SO GOOD OR COOL! Then pay close attention to their eyes and face. They light right up and a huge uncontrollable smile will emerge. I think it is fine if that is what a person wants. I respect that. Please respect my view and personal choice as to why I have no tattoo or piercing or any surgical alteration to my outer self anywhere. Because I believe in the artist that made me and I believe it would be an insult to that Artist to try to improve what he has made so magically to begin with. But That is just me

I think it depends on the person, but sexuality has a lot to do with it... whether it's sexually attractive to the person getting the piercing or they just think it will be more sexually attractive to other people... I personally think nipple piercings are freaking hot! Sometimes the piercing will make areas more sensitive as well... so that's why some people get certain piercings... like their nipples... :)

It's "body art" - a way for people to express themselves ... the same reason people style their hair... wear make-up... get tattoos... dress certain ways... wear jewelry... etc.
They feel it makes them look a certain way (more attractive, more aggressive, stronger, prettier, etc.)
In *some* instances - body piercings can create a side-effect in terms of an expression of their sexuality (a large tongue piercing can be used as an additional stimulant during oral sex, for example) ... but it's typically not the primary reason for doing that.

No,
I don't get pierce to make myself more attractive, I get pierced because it's how I want to look.
The day I change myself just to make someone else happy is the day I might as well lay down and die.

it all depends on the person.
i have my belly button pierced, and tongue pierced,
although i don't give off that "sex appeal" what so ever,
i'm more like the girl next girl type of gal.
but some people want it,
because it makes them feel better about themself,
not because theyre trying to be sexy.

They do it for the same reason that people pierce their ears. They find it attractive.

it's just another means of personal expression. why do people wear necklaces or earrings or bracelets, or designer clothes even. it;s jsut another accessory that the person with the piercing decided would be fun to wear or look good on them.
