Perfectly fine. Well, if you're sleeping on hotel sheets, a bandage is cleaner. It's best to wear cotton clothing that covers it because if the bandage comes loose then you wont end up stuck to the sheets. If your at home let it air out. You will loose some skin/ink and stain your sheets. Do not rebandage the tattoo. (unless it was hotel sheets as stated above) the ink needs air to quickly heal. Keep a light coat of lotion or a&d ointment on it and keep it clean. Sleeping on it won't hurt it.:)

saran wrap is unhealthy for a new tattoo after the first day, in fact after the first few HOURS so don't use it. why? in the course of the day when you're not sleeping and it's exposed to the air you may get bacteria in it... wrap it in non breathing plastic and it's a breeding ground for all sorts of nasty stuff. it's perfectly ok to lay down on a tattoo, just make sure if you get up at night to take a tinkle, rub some lotion on it real quick. (the tattoo, not the tinkle tool)
i wish people really thought out their answers and knew what they were talking about sometimes.

it's probably less of a pain if you don't lay on it but every time i get my back tattooed i end up sleeping on my back. your shirt will likely stick to your new tattoo and it will hurt a bit unsticking it in the morning. with over 20 hours of work done on my back i haven't had a problem yet.

There is no reason why you can't lay on a new tatoo other than it may hurt.Whatever you do don't cover it with anything that won't allow it to breathe and heal naturally. wear an old T to bed, and relax.

I dont think its that big of a deal. My boyfriend has ALOT of tattoos and he's never had a problem. The only thing you need to watch for though:
Make sure you wram it with saran wrap at night for the first few nights because it is pretty easy for the blood and ink to get onto your sheets or blanket. Just keep it covered at night and it should be fine. Also make sure to keep up the use of that ointment they usually sell or give you, it moisturizes and really helps.

I have a few tattoos and they do tell you not to lay on them because they are still bleeding a little and you will end up sticking to the bed and pulling the scabs off along with ink. you can also sleep on your stomach.
