i just learned that 11 sex offenders live within 1000 ft. of my child's daycare. i believe 1000 ft. is the law, at least where i live...indiana. i don't know who to report this to, though? do i just report it to the police, or someone else? and, will they really even do anything? i would hope so, but these losers that aren't worthy of breathing our air are everywhere. they should create a place called "scum island" just for them. anyway, i want them away from the daycare, so please help?

Some may think you shouldn't breathe either. Think about that sometimes.

It sounds unlikely, but if the situation is true, contact local law enforcement for information. Sex offenders are required to register where they live and work, and any changes to these, within a short period of time. Failure to do so can result in serious prison time. Some of the sex offender laws only apply to those convicted after a certain date, so someone with an old conviction may not be included under the law. Notifying the police should solve your problem, and perhaps a list of sex offenders in your city is available. Be sure you are right before you accuse anyone however, or you may find yourself facing a law suit. Good Luck.

Contact your local police who should have an office that deals with sex offenders. In some places, it's the state police depending on the size of your local department. Gather the names and addresses and provide them to law enforcement immediately and give the info to your child's daycare. In rare instances, some sex offenders can live within distance of children. However, if their offense was against children and not adults, they would most likely be barred from living or working near schools or day care centers. There are three levels of sex offenders with level 3 being the most violent and likely to re-offend. Level 1 offenders are usually people who had "consensual" sexual contact with someone who was underage and therefore unable to legally consent (statutory rape or jailbait).

Call your local precinct or station and tell them immediately. Even if these individuals are allowed to live where they are, it is important that the community keep track of them. The level 3 offenders must appear in person every 90 days to the local police. All offenders must register each year. If they have a drivers license and access to a vehicle, they must disclose that and identify the make, model, plate and owner of the vehicle they have access to.
