what kind of example was he talking about ?
Yet another example of the crap that can come out of one man who actually thinks he knows a damn thing about anything at all that he is doing !!!
I might, at this point, remind the first responder that Clinton did not have the LICENSE to operate with impunity afforded the present administration BY 9 / 11 --- and, even with that license -- it is highly unlikely that he would have pursued a non-existing connection TO 9 / 11 in IRAQ !!!!!
And, to the responder following here --- You, and your political cronies use the same dead U S soldiers to prop up YOUR CAUSE !! Usery IS the game of politics !!!

Yes, Anbar Province is a dangerous place to be, perhaps even as dangerous as the District of Columbia.
Iraq seems to be a hodgepodge of small fourth-generation wars without a unified enemy. In Anbar, US forces and Sunni groups have forced the insurgents back from the previous "phase II activities" using the terminology of Mao's little red book, to "phase I" only, which is still no walk in the park, but it's of major significance. For that matter, how familiar are you with these terms? If you aren't familiar with these terms, it's going to be difficult to judge the war news, so I'd encourage you to do some reading.

Anbar is an entire province. Look how that example was acheived. "U.S. and Iraqi officials have touted Anbar as a success story in Iraq even as criticism mounts over the Iraqi government's efforts to achieve political reconciliation on other fronts."
Political Reconciliation does not mean "Bad guys will never attack here again"
If the same political reconciliation in other parts of the country could follow this example, politically things can get better.
I'm sorry you only read what you want to see, and have very little understanding of anything about this war.

Want a really dangerous road? The one between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. More people die on that stretch each year than Americans in all of Anbar.

Lets use our brains for a moment. The President says its a good example, so how do the insurgents discredit the President- immediatley cause disturbances in that area to make it seem as though the President is not in touch with his senior leaders in theatre.
Its a tactic that WE have used in other wars.
A little brain power goes a LOOONG way. Of course, Im not saying this is what happened, but it is a decently sound theory of what COULD happen, and what MIGHT have happened. After all, its still dangerous there.
**Edit** Sorry Promethius, just realized your post said the same thing mine did. I didnt read your post before I posted.

Bush honestly thinks he's going to bring true peace throughout the world while many keep dying and bloodshed continues to rise.
Yesterday I think it was 2 or 3 troops that got killed, but we often still, do not hear of the scores of innocent Iraqi citizens' bloodshed; all the U.S. news tells us is about "our own" countrymen.
I cannot wait until Armageddon then all the governments and militaries of the world will be destroyed. Our earth and the remaining 10% left after all the wicked and rebellious ones are destroyed, will be run by a heavenly government that WILL NOT be brought to ruin and no man will have his stinky little hands at causing anymore chaos and anarchy in this government ever again!
Blah..

Two people were murdered in Turtle Creek Dallas after citizens had declared that neighborhood safe! What's your point? Did you think that just because Bush set that area as an example that it meant they were feeding us chocolate cake and playing Beach Boys tunes? Sorry for the attitude but get real. It's WAR.

Hello..... Whereever you have a terrorist shooting, or blowing up bombs at US soldiers, there is a very good chance a soldier would die.....
It is called WAR.... Soldiers die during war... Everyone in the military VOLUNTEERED to join, which means they are well aware of the risk of going to war, and possibly dying.... Yet they still do their jobs with pride, honor, and selfless service...
So quit dishonoring them by trying to get your liberal point of view across.. Who knows, they probably died right after saving a childs life... Or maybe their convoy blocked the explosion from killing an Iraqi family...

Get over it. You think that everything would be better if someone else was in office? I dare remind you that Clinton had numerous opportunities to prevent all of this if he had acted during his occupancy.
Let history decide who really screwed this whole thing up.

Please kindly note: the terrorists and insurgents watch our news and they DO like to stir up trouble in certain locations after the media reports them "safe." It's a simple psychological trick of attacking our nations resolve. Don't let it get to you.
