Well I did that yesterday (just passing it along really) and one of my so-called friends not only scolded me about sending out silly emails, she also emailed my other friends on the list. So essentially she told me off in front of everyone. Some people just don't have a sense of humor. They were jokes about women being smarter/better than men.

I think she just lost her husband to brain cancer, so I feel for her loss but don't take it out on me.

Trinity: She is a distant friend who used to be a member of my church before she moved to Arizona (only seen her twice in 15 years). I only know of her husband's illness because SHE started sending out goup emails about his deathbed process and how she felt about him slowly dying.

Hey you are absolutely right, it was a joke in fact, you didn't even invent the joke you just wanted to pass it on to put some laughter in your friends lives. If she doesn't appreciate it you should tell her I thought this joke was cute and funny I didn't mean to offended you. I'll make sure to never send you another one again since it hurt your feelings so much. I'm sure your other friends that received her nasty reply will also see that you had no malicious intent to hurt her feelings. I wouldn't worry about it, let her be bitter if she wants, you did nothing wrong.

Well as you know I worked at a Funeral Home for a 1-1/2. So I have heard that one alot. There is a True story about a man that this really actually happened to. My Dad told us the story about his friend who was working at the Funeral Parlor and when he went to pull off with the Hearse he didn't hook the casket in the back very well-plus he had been drinking pretty heavy also, the hearse's were made a little different then too. But he pulls off and the casket rolls out and into the woods and he has to try and get it back in the car. Dad could tell it so funny.

I hate when people do that. Public scolding, I mean. I don't mind the jokes. I received the very same e-mail you're talking about and loved it. But, loss of husband or not, if she didn't like the e-mail, she could have sent you a private message. There IS that function, after all...."Reply to Sender"/"Reply to All." I always come to the defense of the person who recv'd the public scolding with my own public e-mail reprimand. Besides, e-mails are supposed to be fun!

Yeah, I do this all the time. Actually myself and a close group of friends pass jokes on to each other frequently. I can see that she may be sensitive right now, but there is no reason to be angry with you. One of my friends from work was complaining that she was getting too much junk mail from me, so I just stopped. It isn't a big deal. I wouldn't say anything to her about it, just don't send any more of the jokes to her. Good luck! )

I do that some times but I only send to people who send them to me. actually I find it annoying to get that kind of email where there is no personal message because it is sent to dozens of other people of which I am just one. I wish they would leave me off their mass mail list and only send to me when they want to include a personal note.

also when you send to so many people you increase the odds that you will hit someone on a bad day and they might react badly

i think most people like to see silly emails now and then, as long as they're actually funny. no need for the scolding and a very humiliating way at that. i'm sure your other friends on the list recognize her ridiculousness.

You "think" she lost her husband to cancer? If you were really her friend, you would at least know if her husband passed away.
