Well, I may not be 17 anymore, but I do know what it's like to have stress, depression and anxiety hit you all at once, and I do know how hard it can be. I also do not want any medication.
All these things run in my family and sadly enough, most of them have become dependent on the medication. I have promised myself that I would never let that happen to me.
Sometimes I break out into these horrible moods one minute, the next I'm crying my eyes out, and the next I just want to be left alone. That is no way for any person to live. You need support from loved ones to help out a little. We all need some help sometimes and the first step at helping depression in wanting to get better. I have chosen away to help myself, but I also ask others around me to be patient with me, it is a long process. I have been dealing with this in my life for years now, but slowly it is getting better.
I realize this is a long answer, but I know a lot about this topic, and it saddens me to know that too many people suffer from this illness. In some cases, people need medication due to the chemical imbalance. Some just need learn that they have the power to overcome this. That is what I'm choosing to do, and so far I'm getting there.
You are 17 years old and life can get better or much much worse. Always think to yourself, you are much greater then the stress, the pain, and the worries that you deal with everyday. School can be tough on people, but always know you can only do so much to please people. Try pleasing yourself, worry about yourself.
Take one day at a time and just know that the horrible day will not last forever, and try not to bring your worries to the next days, that is the past and there is nothing you can do to change that.

Fight Stress With Healthy Habits

Healthy habits can protect you from the harmful effects of stress. Here are 10 positive healthy habits you may want to develop.

Talk with family and friends. A daily dose of friendship is great medicine. Call or write your friends and family to share your feelings, hopes and joys.
Daily physical activity. Physical activity relieves mental and physical tension. Physical activity can be a great source of pleasure, too. Try walking, swimming, biking or dancing every day.
Accept the things you cannot change. Don’t say, “I’m too old.” You can still learn new things, work toward a goal, love and help others.
Remember to laugh. Laughter makes you feel good. Don’t be afraid to laugh out loud at a joke, a funny movie or a comic strip, even when you're alone.
Give up the bad habits. Too much alcohol, cigarettes or caffeine can increase stress. If you smoke, decide to quit now.
Slow down. Try to “pace” instead of “race.” Plan ahead and allow enough time to get the most important things done.
Get enough sleep. Try to get six to eight hours of sleep each night. If you can’t sleep, take steps to help reduce stress and depression.
Get organized. Use “to do” lists to help you focus on your most important tasks. Approach big tasks one step at a time. For example, start by organizing just one part of your life — your car, desk, kitchen, closet, cupboard or drawer.
Practice giving back. Volunteer your time or return a favor to a friend. Helping others helps you.
Try not to worry. The world won’t end if your grass isn’t mowed or your kitchen isn’t cleaned. You may need to do these things, but today might not be the right time.

It's all cut & copy but why mess with what works.

Hey there. Yes, it is a stressful time! You don't need to take medication unless you've been diagnosed with something. There are safe and natural ways in dealing with anxiety and depression.
You could try self-hypnosis, yoga, proper abdominal breathing or even exercise, to name a few.
There are also natural products you can take. This is more for your depression. For example, there's a product called Anxius which is apparently quite good and effective for stress, anxiety and depression. It's even safe for teenagers. Do seek the advice of a proper medical professional, just to be on the safe side though. Good luck. I'm including resources for you to check out, just in case.

Send all your co-workers lots of love- they will feel it- it will change things. Know everyday you are working is one day quicker to the car. Put your name and your Mom's on some prayer list- like Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer- you will be surprised what goes on there. Start listening to web shows those two have on their site. It is literally food for your spirit- it directs you into a closer communication with the creator, it gives you a positive focus for the next few days- and there is power in that focus- things start to happen. Everyday- expect something wonderful to happen- and look for it. It will happen. This is retraining the mind to what it should be. Don't worry about tomorrow- that produces anxiety and depression - keep your focus on today and work on Trust.

At such a young age, depression etc. is not a good sign. My advice is to see your doctor and ask him / her to refer you to an Analytical Psychologist. You must stress that it's an Analytical Psychologist that you need as if not, he / she is likely to refer you to a Psychologist (won't give solutions, just listens), a Counsellor (worse than the Psychologist and probably did a six weeks course to qualify) or a Psychiatrist (commonly known as a "trick cyclist" and is the worst of them all as he / she won't help but will prescribe a lifetime supply of drugs. Without the Psychiatrist, the drug companies would be bankrupt LOL). An Analytical Psychologist will listen, ask questions and advise. He / she will help you to understand your feelings and the causes. You will be encouraged, through action plans, to record your feelings and what you are doing at the time, where at etc. All this information is vital to you as without recording it, you don't even notice what your own life is really like. This in turn helps you to control how you feel and how to avoid feeling depressed etc. A six month course of appointments should be enough to help you get through the rest of your life without feeling so bad that you need drugs etc. Best of Luck and get well!

PS - One good tip for when you feel down. Try to avoid those around you that are unsympathetic and only have "get your act together", "pull your socks up" etc. as a way of help. It doesn't, it only makes you feel worse. Avoid alcohol when down as when as alcohol is a "Depressive" drug. The best people to be around are those that you know are truly sympathetic and you know really care for you.

Exercise
Improve the food you eat every day. No junk, no fast food.
Try to help people whenever you get a chance. Seriously, this is the big secret. You will start to see your worth as a person and you'll feel incredible.

A big part of "fighting" it is either not creating it or being involved with those who do. Always doing the right thing helps A LOT as well.

Excercise and a good diet help as well.

there is no easy answer for this. in part what it takes is different for everyone. reducing your stress can help. filling your life with uplifting things and things you enjoy. filling down time with possitive things.

for me a key part of recovery was faith. placing my trust in God, and letting go of all the worries helped. i know no matter what happens, He will help me and I will be okay. i simplified my life, trading income for an easier, lower stress job. i got rid of debt, worked on my health. i like to take an honest look inside, and if there is something i dont like, i work on changing it. if you live true to your true self, and live openly and honestly, it should help reduce depression and stress. like i said, this will be different for everyone. only you know what works for you.
