I'm supremely ticked off at drug companies right now because I went to pick up a measly tube of prescription skin cream that my doctor prescribed to me and they wanted over $300.00 for it! That was WITH my insurance--WITHOUT insurance it would have been over $400.00. I know by coming on here to complain about it I'll get a bunch of conservatives ranting about free trade capitalism to me. My question--would Jesus have been OK with a company charging $300.00 to someone who obviously needs their product as medicine, and if not, why do the Christian conservatives back capitalism so fervently if it's such an "un-Christlike" concept?

Christian conservatives are hypocrites when it comes to Capitalism and Jesus. Capitalism promotes greed, accumulation of monetary wealth of a individual and profit at the expense of others. All the things Jesus preached against.

Capitalism and true christian values contradict eachother so much that its amazing conservative Christians have found a way to incorporate capitalism into there christian lives.

History shows, humans will tweak there religion any way they want, to fit there own "needs" of the times. And you have brought up a perfect example of this.

I think you're mixing things up a bit. I don't think Jesus was a capitalist, but we don't know about that. And I would not think that Jesus would be happy about companies gouging prices if that's what they are doing. And you are making the assumption that people who believe in capitalism are Christians. There is no correlation or connection between capitalism and Christianity. Now, on the other hand, there are certainly Christians who believe in capitalism. I'm one of them. But I agree that people who need medical help need to be able to get medical help without it being cost prohibitive. And you are certainly right that much of the medical system in the US is cost prohibitive and is not run the way that would make Jesus happy. So what we ought to do is change the health care system in the USA, but that is a political/social issue, not a religious/spirituality issue. I think what Christians ought to do is start their own medical system to provide free care to people. It would take a lot of organization, though, and I am sure that the large medical companies would be against it, but it would be a great ministerial opportunity.

The Jesus of the Bible (I say this since I have no credible evidence that such a person actually existed) would be considered a Communist; neither democratic nor capitalistic. He was a liberal Jew who could not have gotten into most Republican's country clubs.

A conservatives of any age is basically the same. Conservatives merely happen to be Christian in the US because that is the majority. If they had lived in ancient Greece they would have been polytheistic.

Remember, Jesus kicked out the money changers. He accused them of changing the House of God into a den of theives.

I'm really sorry to hear about your financial dilemma. I wish I could help. I know how you feel, my wife just went through surgery, and her primary insurance provider will pay absolutely nothing, so we're hoping that the insurance from MY company will cover some of the 100 thousand dollar expense.

But why do you assume that Christians support this kind of thing? That's not capitalism. That's called greed, which the Bible is against!

I think Jesus would tell you to be happy with the skin he gave you and stop trying to change it with expensive voodoo concoctions and then complain about your satanic activities because some one else is getting rich of your heinous life-style.
go with god, pimples and all.

His message was that He had overcome the world, which would solve your problem if you could see it. Give unto Caesar and stop trying to blame Spirit for man"s doings.
