When it comes to temptation, the biggies are fortune, fame, power, and pleasure. By resisting each, out in the open, we cultivate character down inside. So keep your eyes open and your shield handy. The battle is on right now."
This was in my daily Zondervan I receive and I just thought I'd share as a reminder to all of us who want to have good character and integrity.
The integrity of a person is determined by what they do when no one is looking (except always remember God is always looking and you can't fool Him)

there are people out there that have fortunes and fame and power and still resist temptations and know that jesus is lord. it is the ones that are seeking these things that are susceptible to detours. i agree. when no one is watching is when you show your true colors, the ones that god sees. thanks for the refresher.

I am not really tempted to be famous... Fortune has so far eluded me..lol. Power? Nah...Pleasure..I found an evil road following pleasure of the flesh.

Fortune?I have a King with the cattle on a thousand hillsides, I am an heir to Christ!
Fame? I am written in the Lamb's book of life. No other press will ever be that good.
Power? I am strong in the Lord and the power of his might!
Pleasure? Eph 1:9-10
9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment-to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

blessings to you!

No.

The headaches associated with all of those far outweigh their perceived value.
Can Bill Gates ever really trust a stranger?
Did fame protect Michael Vick?
Did power keep Saddam Hussein safe?
Does pleasure protect you from AIDS?

I agree with your last statement, but not because I believe in god(s).

Anyone may experience temptation,in any of these desires..It it usually an indication of an emotional need, that is not being met...When they become an obsession, they are no longer a simple unfullfilled need, but sinfull addiction.

fortune and power matter most to me.
fame and pleasure...ehh, not so much.
I've been sick without health insurance, and for that reason, I never want to be unfortunate and powerless again.

All of these things are important in moderation.
