Vaca,
it would be best if you could elaborate upon the time period that you are interested in. The Communists were our allies during World War II; however, following the conclusion of WW II we were in what was termed "The Cold War". A war in which no direct shots were fired at one another; however, plenty of "indirect" shots were fired and much more espionage.

An example of an "indirect shot" would be the war in Viet Nam and the war in Korea. The North Vietnamese were "communist" under Ho Chi Minh. They were supported and supplied by the Chinese and the Russians. During the 1980's serial numbers from American M-16 machine guns that were missing during action in Viet Nam were magically appearing in El Salvador. During the Korean War, the North Koreans (communist) were supplied by the Chinese.

I can answer and explain much more in detail if you wish; however, feel free to contact me off line through Y!A email. Additionally, during the course of time as mentioned above there were countless acts of espionage. To a great extent it still occurs today - just a little differently.

Best to you!

Gerry

they were fighting for themselves and for the right to make a world where everyone is equal. although it sounds wonderful in theory, communism is impractical in real life, and many communists turn to militaristic efforts to assert their ideology.
the very enemy or the opposite of communism is capitalism, so that's probably the short answer to your question.
